3 Duties and Responsibilities:- Attending court to represent the Registrar General in suits and proceedings where the Registrar General in her capacity as the Registrar of Companies, Registrar of Societies, Registrar of Marriages or Registrar of Books and Newspapers is sued. Liaise with the investigating agencies like the Criminal Investigations Department and the Banking Fraud Investigations Unit to assist with criminal investigations involving corporate bodies and business names registered at the Companies Registry. Attending to disputes and complaints referred to the Registrar General by members of the public arising out of matters falling within statutes administered by the Registrar General like the Companies Act etc including mediating solutions between opposing camps or groups. Implementing and ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Companies Act, Registration of Business Names Act, the Bankruptcy Act etc by both companies and natural persons as the case may be. Preparing and drafting pleadings and any relevant court documents. Responding to correspondence. Preparing legal briefs and opinions on request for the Registrar General or Solicitor General or Attorney General as the case may be. Signing statutory documents and certificates. Winding-up and liquidation of companies. Supervising, administering and implementing bankruptcy proceedings. Conducting conveyances on behalf of the Official Receiver. Holding and conducting creditors meetings and company general meetings. Carrying out legal research. Supervising junior staff especially in implementing their individual work plans.
