IB Diploma Program Courses and Levels All HL courses and Language Acquisition SL courses are taught for two years with 170 hours of instructional time per year for a total of 340 hours. Mathematics SL is offered with a minimum of 170 hours of instruction, but only after a candidate has completed our local course Calculus AB. Instructional time per week is 4.5 hours for each course.
