Achievement CalculaEons for High Schools

Achievement CalculaEons for High Schools

Progress CalculaEons Student Growth Percentile (SGP) The SGP describes a student s growth relative to other students with similar prior achievement. Each student obtains a growth percentile, indicating his or her rank on current achievement relative to other students with similar score histories (statewide). A student s growth percentile can range from 1 to 99. Every student s SGP has the potential to earn points towards the Progress Score. Progress calculations will utilize SGPs for FAY students.

Progress CalculaEons for High Schools To calculate Progress, GaDOE will: SGP Ranges Type of Growth 1 34 Low Growth Typical Growth High Growth Rubric is subject to change.

Achievement Gap CalculaEons for High Schools To calculate Achievement Gap, GaDOE will: Utilize the school s lowest quartile of FAY students based on scale scores (focal group). Utilize the state s mean performance of FAY students based on scale scores (reference group). Standardize the scale scores for the school and the state using the 2011 (baseline year) state mean and standard deviation. Calculate the gap size by finding the difference between the mean scale scores for the state and the school. Assign a score for the gap size utilizing the rubric: Rubric is subject to change

Achievement Gap CalculaEons for High Schools To calculate Achievement Gap, GaDOE will: Calculate the gap change. o Current year gap size minus prior year gap size Assign a score for the gap change utilizing the rubric: Rubric is subject to change For each subject assessment, take the higher of the gap size and gap change. o ELA = 9 th Grade Lit, American Lit o Math = Math I, Algebra, Math II, Geometry o Science = Biology, Physical Science o Social Studies = US History, Economics

Achievement Gap CalculaEons for Elementary and Middle Schools To calculate Achievement Gap, GaDOE will: Calculate gap size. Calculate gap change. For each subject assessment, take the higher of the gap size and gap change. o Reading o ELA o Math o Science o Social Studies

Achievement Gap CalculaEons for High Schools

Challenge Points Opportunity for schools to earn addieonal points Maximum points allowed 10 points Two components 1. ED/EL/SWD Performance Acknowledgement of the academic performance challenge of having significant number of ED/EL/SWD students UElizes Performance Flags which are triggered by Performance Targets o Performance Targets are posted on Accountability s web page 2. 34 Challenge Points ED/EL/SWD Performance UElizes Performance Flags 27 Flags for High Schools

Challenge Points ED/EL/SWD Performance UElizes Performance Flags 15 Flags for Elementary and Middle Schools

Challenge Points ED/EL/SWD Performance

Challenge Points Exceeding the Bar Indicators The Exceeding the Bar (ETB) indicators will be benchmarked. o The ETB indicators not benchmarked relate to: STEM program cereficaeon School/LEA defined InnovaEve PracEce Each indicator meeeng the benchmark or the indicator criteria will earn 0.5 points towards the Challenge Points.
