4 BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS DRAFT FOR COMMENTS ONLY Draft Indian Standard Doc: ETD 08 (11701) (IS/IEC : 2015) High-voltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 104: Alternating Current Switches for rated voltages higher than 52 kv (first revision) This document was earlier issued in wide circulation on 07 th July During the 24 th Meeting of High Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Sectional Committee, ETD 08, it was decided to re-issue the document in wide circulation for a period of 15 days. Accordingly, the document is being circulated again. Last date for receipt of comments is : 24 January 2019 High Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Sectional Committee, ETD 08 NATIONAL FOREWORD This draft Indian Standard (Part 104) which is identical with IEC : 2015 High-voltage switchgear and controlgear Part 104 Alternating Current Switches for rated voltages higher than 52 kv issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) may be adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the High Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council. This standard was first published in 2015 and was identical with IEC : This IEC standard has since been revised as IEC :2015. The revision of this standard (Part 104) has been taken up to incorporate the technical modifications and align it with latest IEC standard. The revised draft standard includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous version: the title was changed such that the voltage range now is > 52 kv instead of 52 kv; the references have been updated; This standard should be read in conjunction with IS/IEC :2007, to which it refers and which is applicable unless otherwise specified. In order to simplify the indication of corresponding requirements, the same numbering of clauses and subclauses is used as in IS/IEC Amendments to these clauses and subclauses are given under the same numbering, whilst additional subclauses, are numbered from 101. The text of IEC Standard may be approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following: a) Wherever the words International Standard appear referring to this standard, they should be read as Indian Standard.

5 b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
