WTCS OVERVIEW Mission Our mission is outlined in state statutes: To enable individuals to acquire the occupational skills necessary for full participation in the workforce by recognizing the rapidly changing educational needs of residents to keep current with workplace demands, and to work collaboratively with other educational institutions and partners to deliver educational options that foster economic development. (s. 38.001, Wis. Stats.) In 1911, Wisconsin became the first state to establish a system of state support for vocational, technical and adult education now known as the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS). That same year, the Legislature also established Wisconsin s highly-regarded Apprenticeship program. Organization In keeping with our mission, Wisconsin s technical colleges provide dynam mic education and training in a rapidly changing marketplace, increasing the economic vitality of students, employers and communities throughout Wisconsin. With 16 colleges and 54 campus locations throughout the state, WTCS institutions offer relevant, high-value g short-term and two-year y credentials, customized training and innstruction, college credit opportunities for high school students, and transfer opportunities for those interested in pursuing a foour-year degree. Uniquely close ties to our employer partners allow us to align education and training with real-world talent needs. That s great for em mployers, but it s also great for our students who havee confidence in the market value of their skills. Whether you re measuringg student outcomes and student satisfaction, or em mployer satisfaction and the level of importance thhey place on our role in the success of their business measures that we take routinely Wisconsin s teechnical colleges deliver. 2
