20 EARLY CLINICAL EXPOSURE University College of Dentistry is focused on producing graduates that are competent health professionals. To achieve the said purpose vigorous efforts are made to bridge the gap between pre-clinical and clinical phases by providing early clinical exposure. Students are rotated through clinical specialties, batch-wise, starting from first year of study. These rotations help the students in observing doctor-patient relationships as well as basic clinical procedures. Students first practice basic clinical procedures on phantom heads before progressing onto real life patients. In addition, students also get to observe the real-life handling of ethical issues in clinical practice. Each rotation is evaluated with the help of relevant assessment tools e.g. OSPE/OSCE. U.S. National Dental Boards Certified Chief Resident, TMD and Orofacial Pain University of Minnesota, USA As a dental student, I always dreamt of making a name for myself in the field. During my rotation at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, a faculty member commented I feel girls who pursue academics and make it to prestigious institutions are smarter than boys.
