They should also have a minimum of at least three grade 4s or three grade Cs in their other GCSEs. This should include at least grade 4 / grade C in the subjects they wish to study at A level, where this applies. To study: modern foreign languages, students need a grade 5 or above in their chosen language. maths, the minimum is grade 6 in maths biology, students need a grade 5 or above in combined science or in biology plus one other science chemistry, students need a grade 5 or above in maths, grade 5 in combined science or in chemistry plus one other science physics, students need a grade 6 or above in maths.
