2 Preparing Ohio and Michigan s Workforce for Jobs of Tomorrow Facts about Career Colleges and Schools and their students There are 500 licensed career colleges and schools in Ohio and Michigan that provide professional, technical and career-specific programs in 200+ occupational areas; granting degrees, diplomas, and certificates. All Ohio Career Colleges and Schools are licensed by the State of Ohio and overseen by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools. Michigan Career Colleges and Schools are overseen by The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and all are approved by the U.S. Department of Education. Many career colleges and schools are nationally and/or regionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges, The Higher Learning Commission (North Central Association of Colleges and Schools), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools and many more. Career college students account for about 78% of all the business, health and computer graduates; three occupations projected to be among the fastest growing jobs through Approximately 79% of graduates find jobs in their field of study within 90 days of graduation. The average cost of tuition at Ohio and Michigan Career Colleges is less than the $13,000 statewide average for all of Ohio and Michigan s tax-supported community colleges, state universities, their branches and non-profits. Colleges and Schools are privately owned and operated and not supported by any federal, state, or local tax money.
