I M P O R T A N T I N F O R M A T I O N With summer quickly approaching, we d like to share some important information regarding summer opportunities for JFK Middle College students. C N U S D S U M M E R S C H O O L CNUSD Summer School is designed for students needing to make-up D or F grades in selected classes. Students are highly encouraged to make up these grades in order to be on track for high school graduation and university acceptance. As a reminder, A-G criteria accepted by UC, CSU, and most private colleges require students to earn grades of C or better. Our guidance counselor, Mrs. Kretz, has met with 10th and 11th graders to review their course requests for Fall 2014 and register students for CNUSD summer school if needed. Classes take place daily from June 9- July 3. N O R C O C O L L E G E SUM M E R T E R M Norco College Summer Term is an option for students that do not need to take CNUSD summer classes. Classes begin June 23 and end July 31. In order to be eligible to enroll in classes for summer, students must have submitted all required documentation to Norco College Student Services by April 9, N O R C O C O L L E G E F A L L T E R M Students who met the deadline for Summer 2014 are automatically enrolled in the Fall 2014 term as well. For students who have not yet completed paperwork, the deadline for Fall 2014 at Norco College is Monday, June 16. Please see the front desk for instructions on applying. 5 V O L U M E 2, I S S U E 5 From the JFK Registrar The JFK Registrar, Mrs. Schlopy, is the keeper of student records and assists students with official transcripts for college applications and scholarships. It is critical for all students and families to review their records periodically online through Q and ensure JFK has the most current information. This will ensure timely access to information throughout the year. Please continue reading for important reminders. I N T E R - D I S T R I C T T R A N S F E R S Students living out of the District need to renew their Inter- District Transfers both at their neighborhood school district and CNUSD Student Services annually. A D D R E S S A N D T E L E P H O N E C H A N G E S If any student moves over the summer and/or changes their home telephone numbers, please bring a current utility bill to the Registrar s office so that records are up-dated. N O R C O C O L L E G E T R A N S C R I P T S Seniors, please remember to bring in your Official Norco College Transcripts to the Registrar s office ASAP. Juniors and Sophomores, please bring P A G E 5 your unofficial Norco College transcripts the first week of school to the Registrar s Office. H I G H S C H O O L T R A N S C R I P T S Seniors, please request your high school official transcripts. Forms are available in the Registrar s Office and the school website. Be sure to attach an addressed and stamped envelope for transcripts to be mailed to proper colleges. Transcripts with second semester grades will be available for mailing or pick-up after 1 p.m. on June 10 th. The registrar s office will close at 3:30 p.m. on June 11 th for summer break. Senior Obligations Senior parents: As we come to the conclusion of high school, we begin the celebration of a milestone through awards, accolades, ceremonies, and activities. One important process in parting ways with students is the returning of borrowed district materials, or satisfying financial obligations that may have accumulated over the years. This year s Senior class will begin the process of returning textbooks during the week of May 19th. It is important that all students take the time to ensure that all school materials are returned undamaged. It is equally important that all students verify that they do not have any outstanding obligations on their account. Often times these obligations are due to lost or damaged textbooks, property damage (classroom equipment), or due to unpaid fund raising obligations to athletic or club affiliation. It is important to note that specific obligations must be taken care of at the school where the obligation originated. Students who have obligations on their account will need to ensure they are settled prior to the end of the year. For any student who has an unpaid obligation, the school will not release their diploma, grades, transcripts, or student records until financial restitution is made. Additionally, any student who has an unpaid obligation will not receive additional tickets to the graduation ceremony scheduled for May 29th 2014 until financial restitution is made. As your student prepares to exit high school, we strongly recommend they inquire about any obligation that may exist and make arrangements for payment as soon as possible. Specific inquiries regarding obligations can be made with Ms. Cervantes in the CLICC.
