Questions/Comments from Public Agenda Items The Board of Education recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on school matters of community interest. In support of this position, the law establishes a period of public comment at every public Board meeting. Individuals wishing to speak must state their name and address. Comments can be limited to five minutes duration, but an individual may speak a second time after all others who wish to speak on the topic have been heard. All statements and/or questions shall be directed to the presiding officer and no participant may address or question Board members individually. All speakers are requested to express themselves in a civil manner, with due respect for the dignity and privacy rights of others whose legal rights may be affected. Please note: While it is not the Board s intention to stifle comment on matters of legitimate concern to the school community, the public should be aware that if their statements violate the rights of others under the law governing defamation or invasion of privacy, they may face personal liability to the injured party. If speakers are uncertain of the legal ramifications of their comments, the Board urges them to seek guidance beforehand from their own legal advisor. 16: 3-8 1

Approval of the field trip for the Fourth Grade to visit the State Museum, Old Barracks Museum and State House Room 50 in Trenton, NJ on May 12, Approval of the field trip for the Safety Ambassadors to attend a Luncheon at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ on June 1, Approval of the field trip for the Second Grade to visit the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ on June 2, Approval of the field trip for the Fifth Grade to visit the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ on June 9, Approval for Dunellen High School to participate in the Gender and Violence: How Media Shapes Our Culture program as sponsored by the Middlesex County Office of Health Services B. Buildings and Grounds C. Finance 1. Approval to submit the tentative Dunellen Public Schools District Budget to the County Superintendent of Schools Acknowledgement of the state aid figures in the following amounts: Equalization Aid of $4,510,934, Categorical Special Education Aid of $703,414, Security Aid of $65,057, Transportation Aid of $21,220 and PARCC Readiness Aid of $11,620, per Pupil Growth Aid of $11,620, Professional Learning Community Aid of $11,220 and Under Adequacy Aid of $159,306 for a General Fund state aid total of $5,494,391; Approval of the General Fund Tentative Budget in the amount of $16,379,738, Special Revenue Fund Tentative Budget in the amount of $662,000, and Debt Service Fund Tentative Budget in the amount of $717,250 with a total Tentative Budget of $17,758,988; Approval of the General Fund Tax Levy in the amount of $10,249,324 and the Debt Service Tax Levy in the amount of $717,250; And that the Superintendent of Schools and the Business Administrator are authorized to submit all required budget documents to the Executive County Superintendent of Schools. 16: 3-8 2

Custodial Bid WHEREAS, the Dunellen Board of Education previously advertised for bids from interested contractors for the provision of outsourced custodial services to the District ( the Project ); and WHEREAS, two (2) bids were submitted from interested contractors in response to the request for bids, which were publicly opened and read aloud in the District Business Office on February 23, 2016; and WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-22(c), a Board of Education may decide to abandon any project for which bids were submitted and, consequently, reject all bids; and WHEREAS, after a full and comprehensive review of the Project, the District s current custodial needs and the bids received in response to the advertisement for bids, and upon consideration by the Board of Education and District Administration, the Board of Education has, at this time, decided not to proceed with the outsourcing of custodial services and thus will not award a contract for the Project to any interested bidder; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby abandons the Project for the management and provision of custodial services in its current form; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby rejects all bids received from interested contractors in response to the request for bids, since the services proposed by said contractors are no longer necessary; and be it further RESOLVED, that each bid bond submitted by the bidders be returned to each forthwith, and be it further RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby reserves the right to readvertise for this Project at a later date, in the event that the Board of Education at that time decides to proceed with the Project, or some form thereof. 3. Approval to accept student RK as a 9 th grade Dunellen High School tuition based special education student for the school year at a tuition rate of $18,000 (pro-rated) D. Executive Session 16: 3-8 3
