1 MBA in Business Analytics in Association with IBM The MBA in Business Analytics at Galgotias University s School of Business is a full time Program designed, developed and delivered in association with IBM. The initiative brings together the latest software applications, real-world industry experiences, hands on lab course, best practices and case studies all into a single unique education program. This program initiated under IBM CEBT (Career Education for Business Transformations) Program focuses on areas which can be categorized as the most important areas in modern studies of management which addresses managerial decision making and strategy. Program Mission Statement The MBA in Business Analytics full time Program delivers management education with a added emphasis on Business Analytics. Graduates of this program will have competencies in applying various analytical techniques to provide businss insights and support decision making across all functional areas in an organization. Seven learning goals for the program focus on the graduates developing self and contextual awareness, communication and negotiation skills, business knowledge, analytical thinking, leadership and teamwork and entrepreneurial thinking. 2 Program Learning Goals Learning Goal 1: Graduates develop Self & Contextual Awareness a. Clearly articulate their career goals and the purpose of pursuing the program b. Identify personal strengths & weaknesses c. Understand the context of business in a global economy 1a. Students are asked to write a short description of their career goals and the purpose of pursuing the MBA program 1b. Use a questionnaire for assessing students understanding of his/her strengths and weaknesses 1c. Use a concept testing instrument to assess the understanding of business Learning Goal 2: Graduates demonstrate effective communication and negotiation Skills a. Demonstrate active listening and clearly articulate their ideas (Oral and Written) b. Prepare and deliver an effective business presentation (Oral) c. Present logical arguments in support of a position (Oral and Written) d. Demonstrate basic negotiation skills in different business situations (Oral) 2a. Present business scenarios for students and require them to separate the symptoms from the problem, assumptions from constraints and generate alternative solutions for the problem identified 4b. Require the students to analyse the alternative solutions using quantitative analysis 4c. 4 Building Blocks of the MBA in Business Analytics Curriculum Orientation to Management Short courses in this module offered during the orientation help students in understanding the context of business and the range of career options that the program offers Foundational Core Courses in this module equip students with the fundamental skills in the area of problem analysis, quantitative methods, accounting and economic analysis, information technology and communication Integrative Core Courses in this module enable the students to gain an integrative perspective of functional areas of business providing them the competencies needed to address complex business problems Business Analytics Core and Functional Electives Courses in this module provides an opportunity to have deeper understanding about one or more functional areas of the management or industry sectors giving them stronger competencies in their domain of Mini Project and Industry Internship Industry Internship aims to provide students an insight into the working of a real organization and provides a platform to apply knowledge acquired. It also helps them explore career opportunities as well as develop professional skills. Multidisciplinary Action Project This year long project offers a platform for deep assimilation of business and application of skills to real or simulated business scenarios. This team based project opportunity will make students effective team players. Pedagogical Methods: The pedagogical approaches used have a significant emphasis on active learning to develop competencies to solve business problems in diverse contextual settings. Aligned with approach, a portfolio of pedagogical methods such as lectures, cases, role plays, management games, field study projects, and simulation will be employed. Learning Assessment: Assessment of learning is aligned with the pedagogical approaches used in the courses. Given the focus on active learning methods and use of case studies, students are assessed using projects and case analysis in addition to the concept testing using quizzes, presentations, Lab oratory exercises and exams.

It also helps them explore career opportunities as well as develop professional skills. Specific deliverables will be outlined for students and faculty will evaluate student performance. Multidisciplinary Action Project This year long assignment is designed to help students develop skills to apply the knowledge to real life or simulated business scenarios.
6 Electives Electives provide an opportunity to students to develop deeper understanding about a functional area or vertical. Students in the MBA in Business Analytics program can choose any one of the following as their focus area or major area of concentration: Marketing Management Finance Human Resource Management Operations Management Information Technology International Business Hospitality Management Healthcare Management Media Management A minimum of 4 electives in a functional area qualifies as the student's thrust area /major area of concentration. Although not required, a student may choose to have a minor in any of the areas of concentration by taking 2 or more courses. Students choosing to not opt for a minor are encouraged to take interdisciplinary courses to meet the two open elective requirements. Students interested in taking courses offers outside of the school of Business to meet this requirement will need to seek approval of the Curriculum Committee.
