3 How Information and Communication Technologies are used to assist learning In the ICLT classroom, ICTs are used to assist in integration and embedding of ICLT into classroom learning units. The children are able to access desktop computers to create assessment pieces, research, read, create and interpret data and to communicate. We use the ICTs to teach digital citizenship and to enhance learning experiences both in the computer lab and the classroom. Mobile labs are used to embed ICTs further into the classroom setting, to enable students with different learning styles to achieve their goals. The use of electronic whiteboards assist in varied teaching delivery styles and give the students an opportunity to interact with their learning. Digital still and video cameras are used throughout the school to record and investigate all aspects of the school environment. Social climate St. Kevin's school is a warm, inviting school. Families are welcomed to participate in all aspect of school life eg assemblies, classroom programs, liturgies, assistants on excursions and volunteers at the tuckshop and library. The Parents and Friends Committee supports the school by fundraising in partnership with the school according to the Annual School Renewal Plan. The Social Committee plans activities on an Annual basis to involve families in fun, social activities, eg Mother's Day dinner, Trivia Night. As an internationally credited school, St. Kevin's has a mulitcultural focus, welcoming families from around the globe. Therefore, celebrations such as Harmony Day not only teach students about cultural diversity, but also provide tangible opportunities to include all families. Class programs that integrate Religious Education, Personal Development and Values Education are facilitated through the programs 'You Can Do It' and 'Making Jesus Real'. Such programs reinforce our identity as a Catholic School. Parent, student and teacher satisfaction with the school Through regular internal reviews of all aspects of schooling, the satisfaction of stakeholders is monitored, reviewed and then action is taken for improvement. This information is then shared with the school community. Committees, which are usually of short duration, are formed to deliver the outcomes recommended. During parent/teacher interviews, parents have the opportunity to express their satisfaction with the learning of their children. Parents are also involved in the performance reviews of the leadership team of the school. Students are frequently asked for their opinions on various aspects of schooling eg how they think they are progressing. Great respect for the views of all stakeholder is held by school personnel. 3

4 Involving parents in their child s education Parents are involved in formal and informal ways in the life of the school. Formal processes such as parent-teacher interviews, conferences regarding student behaviour, enrolment support processes for students with disabilities, leadership team and school & staff appraisals, are some of the ways parents are involved. All parents are informed of school affairs by newsletter, the school website and termly letters detailing the curriculum offerings in each year level. Teachers frequently or telephone parents with regard to daily events involving individual students. Parents also assist students by conducting reading groups, volunteering in various endeavours and by engaging in the activities of the Parents and Friends Association. Partnerships and networks are also developed for specific purposes eg fundraising activities.
