1 Course Title: QuickBooks Basic Course Objective: This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to QuickBooks 2015 accounting features to set up and run a product and/or service based business. In this course, students will learn how to set up a new company in QuickBooks, invoice customers and collect payment, enter and pay vendor bills, set up inventory, and reconcile the bank account. Final Complete the Final Assignment Complete the Final Exam Assignments The assignments will assess your comprehension and application of the principles covered in the course. Upon completion of the assignments, you will submit them for grading and feedback. Lesson Tests Upon completion of each lesson in the lesson media presentation, there is a lesson test. This test will assess your comprehension of the concepts covered within the lesson presentations. The grade achieved on these tests will be saved in the gradebook for the course. Final Exam Upon completion of all the activities in the course, there is a final exam. The exam will focus on all the material covered throughout the course, including reading assignments. Once the exam has been started, it must be completed and submitted, so be sure you have set aside enough time to finish the exam. The results achieved on the final exam will be saved in the gradebook. Professionalism Criteria You are expected to exhibit positive behavior and work habits that are critical to your overall employability and success. 5 Responsibility Participation Adherence to Sullivan and Cogliano policies ATTENDANCE You are expected to attend class promptly on all of your scheduled days/times. If you must modify your school schedule, please contact your instructor so that your schedule may be properly modified to best suit your current needs. Please do not take it upon yourself to alter your schedule. This could lead to excessive absenteeism, academic failure and/or your withdrawal from school. You are required to notify your instructor by phone or ON OR BEFORE THE DAY of your absence as to the cause and your expected return date. It is the student s responsibility to make up all assignments you miss due to absence. For the online courses, Sullivan and Cogliano requires that students log in to the LMS on days they are scheduled, and that students answer the daily question presented to them before they commence their actual classwork. Students must satisfy the following attendance requirements: 1. Attend 90% of all scheduled hours by the mid-point date. (This includes all make-up hours completed prior to the mid-point date.) 2. Attend 90% of all scheduled hours by the final exam date. (This includes all make-up hours completed prior to the final exam date.) Failure to achieve these goals will result in a deduction of points awarded for attendance per the following scale: ATTENDANCE RATE (% ATTENDED) GRADE 100% % - 99% 90 80% - 89% 80 70% - 79% 70 Below 70% 0 Please leave an attendance record that you will be proud of and one that your future employer will desire. The Student Services Office is available between the hours of 8:30am 5:00pm (EST), Monday Friday. If you call the Student Services department during these hours and GQB2015 5

DRESS CODE (In-school students only) Sullivan and Cogliano Training Centers requires each student s dress, grooming and personal hygiene be appropriate to the institution. All students are expected, at all times, to present a professional business image to fellow students, training center staff, potential employers who may visit the campus and the public. An observance of appropriate personal dress standards, just like proper maintenance of student work areas, is an ongoing display of professionalism which will be required in any potential work environment. The goal of this is to adequately prepare students to enter the workforce with both the core skills learned from their classes and professional skills required to be successful in most any business environment. RESPONSIBILTY / PARTICIPATION/ HOMEWORK Sullivan and Cogliano interprets responsibility and participation as the posting of regular, scheduled attendance, evidence of academic progress through timely completion of required course assignments, homework and surveys, and maintaining appropriate and regular contact with your instructor and/or student services advisor through weekly meetings, s and/or phone calls. 7 ACADEMIC HONESTY POLICY PLAGIARISM AND CHEATING Plagiarism constitutes the appropriation of another person's exact words or original thoughts or writing without extending proper credit (using in-text citations and a works cited reference list) to the original source. As such, plagiarism exists as an illegal action a type of theft that, in the business/professional world, for example, could result in severe penalties against you. You will receive a grade of zero on any assignment for which you do not do your own work or when unauthorized resources are used. In addition, the matter will be referred to the school administration for appropriate action. VIEWING MULTI-MEDIA CONTENT (Online students only) Please remember to have the Google Toolbar closed in order to view the multi-media content. Sometimes the toolbars can interfere with the audio/video content. "Online manners" are generally known as "netiquette." As a general rule, you should adhere to GQB2015 7

8 the same classroom conduct that you would "off-line" in a face-to-face course. Some examples of proper netiquette are: Avoid writing messages in all capital letters. THIS IS GENERALLY UNDERSTOOD AS SHOUTING. Be careful what you put in writing. Even if you are writing a message to one person, assume that anyone could read it. Though you may send a message to a single person, it is very easy to forward your message to many other people. Grammar and spelling matter. Online courses demand the same standard of academic communication and use of grammar as face-to-face courses. Never use profanity in any area of an online course. The transcripts of online course message boards, , discussion forums, and chat sessions may be saved by the instructor and/or school administration. When responding to messages, only use "Reply to All" when you really intend to reply to all. Avoid unkindly public criticism of others. Use sarcasm cautiously. In the absence of nonverbal cues such as facial expressions and voice inflections, the context for your sarcasm may be lost, and your message may thus be misinterpreted.
