Think of them as spokes of the wheel. If the center of the circle represents 0% and the outside of the circle represents 100% of where you want to be in this area of your life, where you are currently in each area? In this example, you ll notice that Physically this person is at 80% of where she wants to be, but her Financial Life is going through a rocky period and she s not getting as much joy and passion as she d like, so she ranked at 10% of her target. 8 YOUR DREAMS, VISIONS AND GOALS Pretend that it is your birthday. You are surrounded by family and friends that have presented you with a cake. Just prior to blowing out the candles, you close your eyes and dream up wishes of everything that you would like to achieve, have, give, create, or become within the next 20 years. When you open your eyes and blow out the candles, the smoke clears and everything on your wish list has come true! We will now do an exercise that will help you brainstorm many possible wishes for three areas of your life: Personal development, material things and financial growth. Brainstorm all the dreams you would like to experience personally. These may include things like working out, losing weight, running a marathon, learning a foreign language, emotionally, spiritually, etc Now, return to the list you just made and write down one of these numbers next to each one: a 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 based on the number of years you believe it will take to achieve each goal. Next, go back and highlight or circle each of your One-year goal(s). 9 Brainstorm all the things you would like you to have materially. These may include things like a new car, clothes, jewelry, a boat or a new home. Now, return to the list you just made and write down one of these numbers next to each one: a 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 based on the number of years you believe it will take to achieve each goal. Next, go back and highlight or circle each of your One-year goal(s). My top three One-year material goals: (and a statement why you are absolutely committed to achieving this) Brainstorm all of the dreams you d like to experience financially. 10 Now, return to the list you just made and write down one of these numbers next to each one: a 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 based on the number of years you believe it will take to achieve each goal. Next, go back and highlight or circle each of your One-year goal(s). My top three One-year financial goals: (and a statement why you are absolutely committed to achieving this) Now review your list of ONE YEAR GOALS from all three of the above categories. Now, prioritize and write below the four most important ones. Also, write down why you must achieve each goal within the next twelve months. 11 Now the hard part: Picture far into the future. You are old and lying on your deathbed. You are surrounded by your grandchildren and they are holding an old, wrinkled, yellow sheet of paper (this one!). They are asking you about your dreams and goals and you have to explain how good it felt to have achieved each one, or how much pain you experienced by failing to move forward and accomplishing each of them. Imagine how you feel as you share your elation or deep regret for either the courage to take action or for living your life in fear.
