Shapes can be used to describe some attributes of some solids. Two-dimensional or plane shapes have many properties that make them different from one another. Measurement compares a unit to the object being measured. The length of any object can be a measurement unit for length, but a standard unit, such as an inch, is always the same length. The smaller the unit used, the more units are needed to equal a given length. You do not need to start at 0 to use a ruler to measure length. Fractions of an inch give measurements that are closer to the actual lengths of objects than whole inches. Inches, feet, yards and miles are standard units for measuring length and they are related to each other. Capacity is a measure of the amount of liquid a container can hold.
