2 Project Handbook Introduction Project Aim This project will allow you to apply a range of methods and skills used in support of collaborative music performance project which you have developed. Purpose On your journey through this course you have developed your skills within the various techniques used in music performance and production. You have also developed academic skills, which enable you to research and reflect on your work and the work of others, it is now time for you to apply these skills and knowledge. The project will test your knowledge, performance production skills and give you the chance to produce a music performance project with a combination of tasks that combine internal and external assessments. Scenario The final unit is graded against the learning outcomes and the exemplification matrix, which can be found in the qualification specification. You should familiarise yourself with the assessment criteria and the descriptions in the exemplification matrix and the Guide for Students section. On your journey through your course your skills and development will be in a portfolio, you should use these portfolios, the feedback from your Tutors and further research within this project. The assessment is not about the final project, you are being assessed on all elements highlighted in the exemplification matrix and is about your understanding of the process. 3 Task 1 Project Proposal Understand the requirements of a collaborative music performance project 1.1 Analyse the requirements and parameters of a collaborative music performance project You are going to create a collaborative music performance project of your choice and will provide you with a measure of self-directed learning and enable you to clarify your longer-term goals. Pre-Production This task is about developing ideas and creating detailed project proposal of approximately 350 words, excluding the project plan and bibliography and include the following sections: Section 1 Rationale Section 2 Project concept Section 3 Evaluation Section 4 Project action plan Section 5 Proposed research sources and bibliography You should refer to the Guidance for Students in the qualification specification for more detail. Production You will generate evidence of the development of your music performance project against the original production plan and proposal. You will be required to select files that evidence your achievements against the agreed parameters and timescales and reflect on the effectiveness of your planning and organisation.

4 Task 2 Research, Practical Skills and Presentation Be able to use research methods to inform the roles and relationships in a collaborative project. Be able to use skills, knowledge and understanding in the completion of a collaborative music project. 2.1 Review a range of research sources to support the production of a music performance project. 2.2 Interpret research to develop ideas and effectively communicate creative proposals. 3.1 Demonstrate the ability to contribute to the planning, organisation and development of a collaborative music performance. 3.2 Apply practical skills, knowledge and understanding to complete a collaborative music performance project within an agreed timeframe. To create an effective collaborative music performance project you will need to apply research techniques to ensure you meet the demographic of your target audience and understand your role within the project You will identify research sources, use research to support the development of your ideas and assess the value of research materials in the context of your role and the music performance project. Once your research is completed you will produce your music performance project ensuring you capture evidence of the use and application of the methods and technology skills and your selected presentation techniques. You should refer to the exemplification matrix in the qualification specification throughout your project to assess your progression and level. You should ask your Tutor for informal feedback and support if required to ensure you are meeting the required targets.

5 Task 3 Critical Evaluation Be able to evaluate own and others contribution to a collaborative music performance project 4.1 Critically evaluate a collaborative music performance project against the agreed requirements and parameters. It is important for you to be able to critically assess your work to progress in the music performance and production industry. Whilst researching and producing your music performance project you will have created a portfolio of evidence with on-going reflection, you can now quantify your reflection and evaluate the effectiveness of your music project against your identified objectives, parameters and timescale. Evaluation and Reflection You are required to complete an evaluation of not more than 500 words addressing the following areas.
