3 What do you value about Gunter ISD? Great atmosphere to learn, with amazing teachers and coaches. ~ Jeremy Earnhart, Class of 2001 Great student-teacher relationships. Teachers actually *cared* about us students. I think that is the biggest because you can tell when a teacher is not emotionally involved, and then there s not a chance of learning. ~ Zane Harris, Class of 2008

4 What do you value about Gunter ISD? It provided me the opportunity to meet and model myself after several fantastic people. The teachers and faculty I met at Gunter were truly wholesome individuals whom inspired me in many facets of life. The relationships and experiences I cultivated in Gunter are ones I will carry the rest of my life. ~ Chris Jackson, Class of 2016

5 What do you value about Gunter ISD? I loved how well known we were for our academics. Our teachers really pushed us to do our very best! ~ Joanna Ledezma, Class of 2009 The sense of community it is very nice to know everyone and have everyone know you. I value our small-town feel. ~ Current GHS Student

6 What do you value about Gunter ISD? I valued how close students could become (because of smaller classsizes and extracurricular activities). Personally, being involved with the arts at school (specifically band) helped me develop socially in ways I likely could not have in school otherwise. Participation in other organizations (specifically NEHS) was also valuable in establishing my interests in occupational ventures and service opportunities. ~ Celestial Dawn Smith, Class of 2015

7 What do you value about Gunter ISD? The teachers that you can tell actually care about our future ~ Current GHS Student I valued how small the school is because it allowed me to be able to join multiple organizations and sports at the same time. ~ Miranda Bon, Class of 2014

8 What do you value about Gunter ISD? I valued the friendships I had throughout my life. It was amazing to see how many K-12 friends I graduated with. I loved the fact that class sizes were small and we were a name not a number. ~ Ruth Pena, Class of 2009 We have a lot of school spirit and we have a majority of good, scholarly students. ~ Current GHS Student

9 What do you value about Gunter ISD? The strive and expectation of excellence. This started in the athletic department but spilled over into the classroom. The classes above me all did great things, once again not only on the field but also in the classroom, and this showed me what I needed to do to achieve the goals that I wanted to achieve. 10 What do you value about Gunter ISD? I loved being a Gunter Tiger! I was taught by some tremendous teachers and coaches that were always encouraging me to work hard in all aspects of being a student-athlete. Even today, I still like to credit my experience at GISD for being the foundation of everything I have accomplished in my life. ~ Alison (Keatts) Clower, Class of 2009

11 What do you value about Gunter ISD? I loved growing up in a small town and attending a small school where my education was more personal. Dual credit courses allowed me to graduate with 18 hours of college credit. This helped my parents save money by not having to pay for these courses at a 4-year institution. My GIFT and Kerfoot scholarships were an added bonus! ~ Callie McWhorter, Class of 2009

12 What do you value about Gunter ISD? I loved growing up with my friends in a small town with great teachers and role models. The molding years of my life were spent in Gunter ISD. I grew up a tiger, and will always bleed blue and white and be a Tiger! ~ Kendall Harrison, Class of 2003 I value how much all of the teachers and coaches are willing to lend a hand to help anyone at any time. ~ Current GHS Student

13 What do you value about Gunter ISD? I value how close the community is with one another. We come together to make our town and school district great. ~ Current GHS Student I had teachers who pushed me out of my comfort zone. ~ Claudia Reed, Class of 1984

14 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? A school focusing on building prepared future-leaders. This does not mean that the school needs to foster politicians or doctors, but people who can care for themselves and find occupations that meet their interests and skills. ~ Celestial Dawn Smith, Class of 2015

15 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? Gunter has always been a great community. I would like to see it continue to develop in all areas. We are recognized for our academic success and our athletic success. That needs to continue in every program. We need to continue to keep good teachers and coaches around. They are the ones that impacted my life and helped get me where I am. We need to continue to hire people that are invested into kids and their futures. In my vision I would like Gunter to be the example that other districts strive to be like in athletics and academics. ~ Rod Castorena, Class of 2003

17 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? The school that everybody wants to go to ~ Current GHS Student I would like to see Gunter continue to grow in size while at the same time hanging on to passionate teachers and an atmosphere that facilitates learning. I d like to see Gunter invest in technology and teachers that will keep students interested in the subjects they learn. ~ Findley Harris, Class of 2012

18 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? I would like for Gunter ISD to continue furthering its commitment to college preparation while placing more emphasis on developing the character of its students. ~ Reagan Reed, Class of 2013 More electives and computer classes (computer programming, computer mechanics, computer science, etc.) ~ Current GHS Student

19 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? I would love to see more class options. I know the district is not near large enough yet, but some schools offer students classes to be certified by the time they graduate and they can go straight to work, such as a medical asst, or beautician, welder, etc. ~ Stacie Hunsaker, Class of 1988

20 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? I want all the students at GHS to feel welcome and happy to be here, which I believe the school has done well, but it would be better with a few more electives. ~ Current GHS Student Gunter is already a great school. Just need to develop more of the basic common sense tools for the real world. ~ Nate Yansky, Class of 2010

21 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? I hope that with the growth that Gunter experiences over the next several years, we continue to keep our small town traditions and values and incorporate those with a larger population and diversity. ~ Alison (Keatts) Clower, Class of 2009

22 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? I think we should have an art program. Gunter, especially considering its size, offers a diverse range of classes. However, there is no class designed for artistic students and they too deserve a chance to do what they re passionate about. ~ Current GHS Student

23 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? I would hope that Gunter tries to stay true to its small town values, regardless of the massive growth of all of the surrounding towns. The charm of Gunter is, and always has been, that we are small, with wonderful values and simplicity. Obviously, many have moved here to get away from the masses and to attend the exemplary school system. ~ Elizabeth Clark, Class of 1997

To develop into a district with even more leaders and students willing to give 110%; making a huge impact and inspiring students/other schools. ~ Current GHS Student I want the students to become more involved; step out of their comfort zones and try new things. ~ Current GHS Student

25 Where do you want to see Gunter ISD in 3-5 years? What made Gunter so special to me is that I felt our school had humility. We were successful in sports, extracurricular activities, and education. I never felt like we thought that made us better than or too good for anyone. I love that. I hope Gunter never loses that. ~ Hunter Heinrich, Class of 2011
