2 Training Courses 2017 CEC Breakout Sessions There will be two types of sessions available during the 2017 North American CEC Breakout Sessions; Industry Technical Sessions and Training Classes. The Industry Technical Sessions will be topic specific discussions of current business needs based on industry. Training classes will be presented in classroom style format; classes with exercises are denoted with Laptop Recommended. Training Class Logistics Training manuals covering the course material will be available at the start of each class. Many of the training classes will include exercises to allow for hands on experience of the topics presented during the course. Laptop requirements will be reflected below in the Course Abstract as well as in the CEC agenda. Training attendance forms will be passed throughout the room just before the end of the training session. A Training System Installation Workshop will be held on Monday, May 8 between 5:15 pm and 6:00 pm. Additional information will be provided Monday morning of the CEC NA Training Course Abstracts Descriptions of the training courses offered at the 2017 NA CEC are on the pages that follow. Definitions of Levels of Training Basic Basic level training is for those who want a basic introduction to LabWare functionality. These classes may cover a topic that is not dependent on LabWare and can be applied across any system. No LabWare experience is necessary. Beginner Beginner level training is for new users with a basic understanding of LabWare who want to gain additional configuration and functional knowledge. Some LabWare knowledge, i.e., actively working in the system for a few months, is helpful. Intermediate Intermediate level training is for users of LabWare with at least a year of practical experience who want to learn about LabWare enhancements and additional functionality. These courses introduce module functionality as well as system maintenance and other topics that are not covered in typical training classes. It is useful to have completed Admin 1 training before taking this class. Advanced Advanced level training is for proficient users of LabWare with extended practical experience. These classes are typically faster paced and include functionality that may be more complex either in setup or theory than most LabWare functionality, i.e. Rules Engine and Capacity Manager. Expert Expert level training is for those who have strong understanding of LabWare, and experience working and maintaining the system. The classes are high level and fast paced, demonstrating advanced features and configuration.

3 Training Courses Validation Topic Level: Basic Duration: 0.75 hours Course Description TBA Validation Topic Level: Basic Course Description TBA Introduction to LabWare Level: Basic Duration: 6.0 hours This course gives new users a brief introduction to LabWare. The class starts with End User functionality. The class then moves into the configuration of important static tables such as Products and Sample Login Templates. Admin Tools This course is aimed at LabWare Administrators. The class will look at various tools available from LabWare via and within the LabWare product. Introduction to ELN V3 (2 sessions offered) This course will introduce the concept of an Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN). End User exercises will allow you to get a feel for the ELN interface. The last half of the class will allow students to configure templates and test their configuration. Duration: 0.75 hours Visual Workflow Basics This course provides an overview of how to configure dynamic visual workflows in LabWare. Class exercises will guide students through the configuration of dynamic visual workflows. LabWare 7 Overview of New Functionality This course is aimed at End Users and System Administrators who may be using earlier versions of LabWare that are interested in learning the new functionality in LabWare 7. Understanding the DB & SQL Basics This course gives an overview of the database and how SQL is used within LabWare. This course covers where in LabWare SQL can be called and basic syntax of SQL. Intro to LIMS Basic This course is aimed at attendees who have no previous programming experience. Some of the topics covered are variables, code testing, loops, and conditional statements. The course also provides an introduction to elementary LIMS Basic functions. LabWare 7 Configuration of New Functionality This course is designed to give Administrators a more advanced look at the configuration and tools available in LabWare 7.

4 Training Courses (cont.) Crystal Reports Introduction This course will introduce students to the Crystal Reports application and the configuration of a simple report template. Students will learn how to run a report from LabWare using an access routine and query tag. The course will also highlight groups, Crystal formulas, summary fields and running totals. Note: To participate in class exercises, attendees will need to have Crystal Reports Developer version XI or higher installed on their laptops. Error Resolution The course is focused on techniques that can be followed by the LabWare Administrator to resolve LabWare problems or errors encountered at the customer site. Resources that are available for use in resolving issues are discussed. The course includes debugging exercises. Object Group Manager Duration: 1.5 hours Attendees will learn how to utilize Object Group Mgr. Its benefits and capabilities will be discussed with exercises available to get a feel for the functionality. Batch Manager The LabWare Batch Manager handles collections of samples or tests that typically simulate an auto sampler load list, sample set or a laboratory worksheet. This course provides an overview of Batch Manager concepts and the functionality that may be used by end users in performing their daily activities in the lab. The course will also cover the template driven configuration required to allow batches to be created. Batch Id configuration, Batch Links, and Batch Standard Protocols are a few of the templates covered during the course. Archiving in LabWare This course looks at the archiving modules available from LabWare. Advanced Visual Workflows This course introduces advanced Visual Workflow concepts including using CSS files. Debugging in LabWare 7 This course introduces debugging tools available in LabWare 7. The course will look at the Debugging Assistant and Code Reporting as well as other functionality introduced in LabWare 7 and the Debugging module.

Upgrade from LIMS V6 to LabWare 7 The aim of this course is to provide students with an overview of the planning and steps involved in the V6 to LabWare 7 upgrade of a LabWare system. The instructor will guide students through a class exercise that simulates the upgrade of a V6 database. Note: Attendees will need administrator access to their laptops to perform the exercise. SQC Charting & Trending This course explores the Northwest Analytical (NWA) Quality Analyst functionality. The course highlights how to configure chart templates and chart outputs, as well as the various types of charts available. Mapping in ELN This course is aimed at LabWare ELN Administrators who will be involved in the configuration of mapping in Workbook Templates. Hands-on exercises will guide students through the configuration of cell maps and instrument maps. Web Deployment LabWare 7 This course provides attendees with a basic understanding of LabWare web architecture. The course guides attendees through the installation steps, as well as the configuration of the Admin Console. The course also goes into an overview of Web Services Publishing and Cluster Manager functionality. Note: To perform exercises, attendees will need administrative access on their laptops as well as the capability to connect to the internet. LabStation This course is designed to give attendees an overview of LabStation and result integration into LabWare LIMS/ ELN. The course highlights how to collect data from instruments and creating parsing scripts. The course also provides detail on how the various parts of LabStation work together. Stability Manager This course gives attendees a brief overview of Lab- Ware s Stability Module. Configuration of static objects like test articles and protocol templates used to create stability studies will be discussed. Rules Engine This course provides an overview of Rules Engine concepts and the template driven configuration of rules and actions in place of complex LIMS Basic Scripting to introduce logic processing. The course takes you through multiple rule set configuration options to give you a feel of its flexibility.

6 Training Courses (cont.) Capacity Management Duration: 1.5 hours This course is aimed at introducing Capacity Management concepts and functionality. The Capacity Management module provides the ability to track resources; both man and machine. Document Manager This course covers the functionality introduced with LabWare s Document Manager module. Standard and Reagent Inventory Management This course introduces how various modules can assist with standard and reagent inventory management in conjunction with base functionality. Advanced LabWare Reporting Level: Expert This course looks at OLE reporting, writing to Excel templates and some advanced Crystal Reports topics. Advanced DB and SQL Queries Level: Expert This course introduces advanced SQL concepts in relation to the LabWare database. Note: Classes and descriptions are subject to change.
