3 Our Story 3 We are the Sumaria brothers, Romi, Shonil and Keyu, and together we founded The Oblique Life. Not only are we brothers, we are three best friends with a shared vision of helping Londoners meet, connect and engage like they used to, before the days of dating apps and social media. With roots spanning across three different continents over four generations, we have always been privileged to be part of numerous strong and supportive communities including an extremely large extended family that still holds strong ties, despite being spread across the globe. It is from these shared experiences that we began to formulate our core values regarding what it means to be part of a real community. After reflecting on this, we found ourselves tired of the increasingly impersonal nature of London s social scene with too many services and clubs focussing on aesthetics rather than creating welcoming environments where people could feel comfortable in their own skin around other like-minded people. The Oblique Life is a community that really cares (Member #OSS028) We created The Oblique Life as a solution to these problems. We wanted a way for people to try new experiences while feeling assured that they will be able to meet new and old faces alike. A way for people to feel that little bit more special through benefits and special treats offered by partners who share our same values.
