3 Sectoral cooperation - Sector Skills Alliances (1) More cooperation needed within sectors to ensure skills development and reducing skills mismatch Developing Sector Skills Alliances: Specific pilot call for proposals for developing Sector Skills Alliances was organised in 2012 Aim was to test a new type of transnational partnership proposed for new Erasmus+ programme

6 Sector Skills Alliances - aims Bringing education closer to the labour market > better matching VET provision with skills needs Creating more innovation, mutual trust and tools for mobility Innovative ways of vocational teaching and training (e.g. workbased learning) Learning outcomes approach (ECVET, EQF) Systemic impact on training provision Reduced skills mismatch Bringing together sector-specific expertise from VET providers, labour market and policy makers/authorities

7 Sector Skills Alliances - activities Identification of skills needs in the sector Previous/new research, survey etc. Joint curriculum design Translating skills/occupational profile into curricula, implementing European tools (f. ex. ECVET), learning outcomes approach, accreditation Joint curriculum delivery Innovative ways of teaching and learning (incl. work based learning), development of new learning opportunities Dissemination (> systemic impact)

8 Sector Skills Alliance for transport sector? Skills needs in the sector? Anticipating drivers of change in transport sector? What kind of co-operation is needed between different stakeholders? Training institutions, companies (large/smes), authorities etc.? Utilising existing networks and expertise to form an alliance?
