Any student earning an F will be ineligible to play until the following 3 week report is run and the grade has been improved.

6 PMHMS Dress Requirements Parent/Guardian, please review the following with your student. Our intent is to keep our kids safe. For this purpose, please think about the image your children are projecting and whether what they are wearing could accidentally cause harm to themselves or others. We ask that students dress appropriately for school. If you think it may not be appropriate, it probably isn t. Use good judgment. Here are some simple do s and don t s: Do wear clothes that fit properly. Don t wear clothes that are too tight or too loose or are revealing. Do dress for safety. Don t wear anything that could cause you to hurt yourself or others, even by accident. Do dress positively. Don t wear anything that may be considered offensive. Our students are representatives of Mile High and will be seen by other students, teachers, staff, and the community. Let s make sure they put their best foot forward and show the world they respect themselves and their school. If dress is deemed inappropriate, PMHMS administration will make the final decision. Students may be asked to change into clothing available at the school, have parents bring other attire, or could be sent home to change. We encourage individuality but we also encourage dress for success. Some things to keep in mind: Shirts must have sleeves and be long enough to cover the stomach Pants must fit appropriately not too loose, not too tight Pajamas should only be worn to bed NOT to school Shoes should fit securely and be suitable for school o Avoid flip-flops or sandals that do not have a back strap o Don t wear heels that are too high o Slippers are not appropriate Head coverings are not allowed inside Don t wear anything with an undesirable message or depicting illegal substances School Counselor A Counselors is available to discuss academic issues or problems that arise at school. Although the counselor is happy to discuss any and all concerns the student may have, it is important to remember that school counselors are not trained therapists and are not permitted to give any sort of clinical counseling. Bullying is NEVER acceptable. Please see the PMHMS policy on bullying on the website: files/2011/05/mh_policy_on_bullying.pdf We encourage students and parents to report any incidence of bullying. However, please keep in mind PMHMS cannot control the action of its students when they are not in school or non-school related events. Bullying through social networking is beyond the scope of school authority. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY We have a zero tolerance policy on tobacco, alcohol and drugs (including over the counter medication and supplements, drug paraphernalia, inhalants, narcotics, dangerous drugs and stimulating drugs). School officials may conduct student searches if reasonable suspicion exists that a student may be in possession of an item(s) that is in violation of school rules or law. All necessary medication must be cleared and arrangements for dispensation made through the school nurse. DROP OFF/PICK UP Please use caution when entering/exiting the PMHMS parking area. Courtesy is appreciated. Please wait your turn. If possible, make arrangements to meet your child in an area away from the school to avoid sitting in traffic. If you choose to wait for your child, please turn off your engine it s good for the students and the environment. ACADEMIC PERIPHERALS Mile High Middle School offers students a broad based exposure in the core academics as well as in issues surrounding us each day. Parents should be aware that during the course of the year students will study a wide array of topics. Unless we hear from you personally your student will be included in all discussions. If there are any specific topics you would like your child to be omitted from, please notify PMHMS in writing and teachers will be notified and other arrangements will be made for your student Specifics will be posted throughout the school and on the PMHMS website.
