At the time of the interview, you may also provide 15 copies of up to 4 pages of information attached to your questionnaire for distribution to SFDCCC members. If you have not heard from the committee by August 10th, please contact Evelyn Lin at 3v3lynlin@gmail.com to schedule a specific time slot at the Endorsement Interview Meeting on August 11th, While it may seem that some of these questions do not apply to the office you are seeking, they represent Democratic Party principles and since you may run for higher office where these questions will be relevant, we would like them addressed. We will distribute the questionnaires at the meeting and post them on the DCCC website for the public to view.

Who did you vote for in the last two Presidential elections? John Kerry, Barack Obama 4. What have you done and what do you plan to do to ensure the re-election of President Obama? I helped to elect Barack Obama in 2008 and was an active supporter and volunteer during the primary and general election. 5. Have you ever voted for or endorsed a non-democrat in an election? Who? When? Yes. Mark Sanchez for Supervisor in 2008 (Green Party), Jane Kim for School Board 2006 (Green Party). 6. Please provide a brief summary of your qualifications for this office. (no more than 200 words) I am a Bay Area native who has been living and working in San Francisco since I am a graduate of Brown University and U.C. Hastings College of the Law (magna cum laude). President of the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center, I have worked in government and the non-profit and legal sectors on community development, social justice and environmental causes. As Executive Director of a community economic development non-profit, I worked with small business owners to navigate the

3 hurdles of setting up shop in San Francisco. Before that, I worked for former Assemblyman, now State Senator, Mark Leno, in his San Francisco district office. I received the Local Hero Award from the San Francisco Bay Guardian in 2009 and was hailed by Executive Editor Tim Redmond as a leader in the progressive political community for years to come. For six years I served on the board of the San Francisco Housing Development Corporation. I m also a former board member of the urban environmental organization San Francisco Tomorrow. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors appointed me to the Market Octavia Citizens Advisory Committee and awarded me a certificate of honor in 2007 in recognition of outstanding service to the people of the City and County of San Francisco. 8. Please describe your contributions to the Democratic Party at the local, state and or/national level in the last 4 years. (no more than 200 words) I campaigned for Barack Obama in the 2008 primary in California, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Texas and donated to his campaign. I donated to Democratic State Senator Mark Leno s campaign. I have volunteered for and donated to numerous local Democratic Party endorsed candidates over the past 4 years including John Avalos, David Chiu, David Onek, Eric Mar and Rafael Mandelman. I raised $5,000 for John Avalos, our Democratic Party candidate for Mayor last year. 9. If elected, or if currently holding office, what are the three top issues you will work to affect? (no more than 200 words) COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT San Francisco s greatest economic asset is our small business community. ing small business owners means removing red tape, limiting chain stores, and helping small businesses develop. It means creating living wage jobs and worker-owned cooperatives. Big development schemes rarely end up benefiting anyone other than the 1%. San Francisco should receive substantial community benefits from major developments, not become a luxury resort for the rich. AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND TENANTS' RIGHTS San Francisco should be a place where anyone can afford to live. Today, we are relying on paltry handouts from big developers to construct affordable housing units. It s a tale of two cities a playground for the ultra rich, and insufficient housing for the rest of us. We need to preserve rent-controlled housing, expand tenant protections, and dedicate funding sources for affordable rental housing and homebuyer assistance. PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY Our communities should be safe and healthy places to live and work. We need to expand mental health services and health care for San Francisco s most vulnerable populations. Having healthy communities also means ensuring safe streets. Adding more beat cops may help in the short term, but we need to address the root causes of poverty and crime, and foster culturally competent community policing. 10. What have you done to mentor women and people of color in your field? (no more than 200 words)

4 For many years I have served as Board President of the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center where I have had the opportunity to interact with many of the black, Latino, and Russian and Asian immigrant youth who come through our center. As Executive Director of the North of Market Neighborhood Improvement Corporation I recruited two fantastic women from U.C. Hastings community economic development clinic and worked with them to apply their legal education to our neighborhood initiatives. As a U.C. Hastings student myself, I took part in the group advocacy clinic leading a series of know your rights workshops for immigrant high school students. During this collaboration with Legal Services for Children I helped immigrant youth organize and advocate against deportations. 11.
