3 Precinct Caucus I. What is a precinct caucus? The State of Colorado is divided into Congressional Districts, State House & Senate Districts, Judicial districts, several local districts and voting precincts. Voting precincts typically consist of several hundred voters in a specific area and they are the smallest, most influential political units in the state. Precinct caucuses are held in people s homes, schools, churches and other pre-authorized locations in the neighborhood. II. How do I find out what precinct I live in? To find your precinct location visit the Colorado Secretary of State s voter verification link here Once you have input your information scroll down to District Information and look for Precinct. This will tell you the name or number of your precinct. Contact your County Republican Committee to find out the location of your precinct caucus If you are having trouble finding this information please contact our campaign office. III. What should I do to prepare for my precinct caucus? Be sure you are registered (as a Republican) by January 19, 2010 and registered to vote in your precinct by February 16, 2010 to participate on caucus night which is March 16, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. (February 16, 2010 is the last day to register to vote in your voting precinct if you have moved recently and did not re-register at your current address.) If you would like to be a County and State Assembly delegate or alternate you should plan on bringing at least one family member or neighbor to vote for you to attend a higher assembly. Make sure they follow the previously stated requirements to ensure they are properly credentialed, too. If your family member or neighbor needs to register to vote please have them visit the link below. 4 IV. What should I expect precinct caucus night? Please arrive at your precinct caucus on March 16, 2010 by 6:45 P.M. to ensure you have enough time to be properly credentialed. Be sure you give yourself enough time to drive to your caucus location. At 7:00 P.M. your precinct caucus will begin. The typical agenda will be: - Electing a caucus chair and secretary - Electing delegates and alternates to the county, judicial and state assembly - Introducing resolutions and platform issues To be a State Assembly delegate or alternate you must be ratified at your county assembly. Depending on your county you may be elected to the State Assembly from your precinct caucus or you may have to be elected at the County Assembly. Either way, you will have to attend your County Assembly to be a delegate or alternate to the State Assembly. To be a delegate to the County and State Assembly you must declare yourself as a candidate to fill that position. Depending on the size of your caucus a vote may take place to fill these positions. For example: Your precinct has 3 delegate and 3 alternate positions to fill. If 4 people want to be delegates to a higher assembly a vote will take place to fill the 3 delegate positions and the 1 alternate spot. Alternates will fill the vacancy for delegates at the County and State Assembly. You are not required to tell people who you support for any office, although be prepared for people to ask. * A small monetary fee is required for individuals to be a delegate or alternate to higher assemblies to help cover the cost of the event. You are encouraged to contact your local Republican chairman before caucus night to find out any costs. Be prepared to pay any fees on the night of the caucus ($5, $10 or $20). The date, time and location of the County Assembly should be available on caucus night. Please make a note of this as your attendance is required to continue to the State Assembly. Once you have been elected a delegate or alternate to your county assembly please report this information to the campaign at delegate@jjament.com with your full name, address, phone number and if you are a delegate or alternate.

5 County Assembly I. What is a county assembly? County assemblies are larger versions of your precinct caucus. This event is typically held at a school or large venue depending on the size of your county. Here, just like your precinct caucus, you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes early to be credentialed and find your precinct location. This information will be printed on a name tag or badge and signs will direct you where to go. * If you have not paid your delegate / alternate fee you will be required to pay this at the door to ensure you can participate in the assembly. II. What should I do to prepare for the county assembly? Contact your local Republican chairman to ensure you have the correct date, time and location for your County Assembly. You can find there contact information by visiting the following website * County Assemblies are held between Friday, March 26 and Thursday, April 15. If you are having trouble finding this information please contact our campaign office at III. What should I expect at the county assembly? As stated above, county assemblies are a larger version of your precinct caucus. You will be required to declare your intent to be a delegate or alternate to the State Assembly and you will be ratified here. The typical agenda for a county assembly is: - Elect and/or ratify delegates and alternates to the State and other Assemblies - Candidate speeches - Debate and vote on platform issues and resolutions * A small monetary fee is required for individuals to be a delegate or alternate to higher assemblies to help cover the cost of the event. The cost for the State Assembly is $25 for delegates; $15 for alternates and $10 for guests. Other assemblies may have additional fees. Once you have been elected a delegate or alternate to the State Assembly please report this information to the campaign at delegate@jjament.com with your full name, address, phone number and if you are a delegate or alternate.

6 State Assembly I. What is the State Assembly? The State Assembly is a larger version of the county assembly and it is where the party will decide which candidates will appear on the Republican primary ballot. Candidates who receive over 30% of the delegate vote will automatically be placed on the ballot. II. What should I do to prepare for the State Assembly? Make sure you have made travel arrangements to get to the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland on the morning of May 22, Some people will come in the night before. You cannot be late to the State Assembly. Please make sure you are in line to be credentialed at least 20 minutes before the event begins. What should I expect at the State Assembly? This is where our candidates are nominated to represent us. The day will be filled with candidate speeches, videos and a lot fun. After all of the candidates have spoken delegates will be allowed to vote for the candidates that best represent their views. After every delegate has voted, the results will be presented to the Assembly. Once this happens the Assembly will adjourn. * Alternates will be placed in delegate positions if the delegates are not present when the time comes to vote.
