Dr. Calvin Masilela, Program Director UBMS Scholars Visit NCAC in Pittsburgh Austin Cramer-was nominated by peers and teacher/tutor/ staff as UBMS scholar of the summer. Austin continues to succeed his senior year while recently competing for a win in the Skills USA event in the category of Related Technical Math. Austin was the first senior enrolled at PSU Altoona, where he plans to study actuary science. 3 UBMS Participates in the Second Annual DAY OF THE DEAD celebration at IUP. UBMS was invited by fellow TRiO program McNair Scholar Lisa McCan. We created a group altar representing our 50 scholars through our past and future. Juliano with the help from his mother and grandmother created an altar in memory of his late uncle, Michael Donatelli. Prizes were given to the top in each group and individual category. UBMS won first place in the group category. SERVICE PROJECT! UBMS spent a half day of their first Saturday Academy in the new year at the Indiana Community Garden, Mack Park, doing fall clean up. In doing so, were recognized as part of the IUP in the community service day and were given t-shirts to recognize our group.
