1 DARIN A. KRONES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP July 24, 1989 March 22, 2007 Darin Krones, a member of the Class of 2007, was killed his senior year in an automobile accident on March 22, Darin is remembered for his contributions and friendships that he acquired in his lifetime. Among these contributions he served as Altar Boy for Immaculate Conception Church in Gilman, was a member of the Spirit Club and also held officer positions as Student Advisor and Sentinel on the Iroquois West F.F.A. Darin grew up loving football from the time he played on the Iroquois West Youth Football Team for five years and then continuing playing with the Mighty Iroquois West High School Football Team for four years. He joined them as a freshman as they triumphed to win the State 2A Championship. Darin was a ten year member of the Danforth Blue Ribbon 4 H Club, where he took on the responsibility of raising his own pigs and proudly showing them at numerous fairs. In proof of his unfailing will to serve he earned a perfect attendance award for six years at Iroquois West. He has proven to be a hard worker around the farm helping Douglas Hansen, his Grandfather Ralph, and Uncle Mike doing farm work. When the work was done he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and restoring tractors. Darin s involvement and dedication created many strong friendships countywide. He was a classmate, a teammate, a fellow member, a family member, a brother, a son and most of all, always a friend.

2 1. Purpose: The Darin A. Krones Memorial Scholarship has been established to help a member of the graduating class of Iroquois West High School further their education. Preference will be given to students planning careers in a vocational area. 2. Eligibility Member of the current graduating class (participating in graduation) Planning on attending a tech/trade school, community college or university immediately following graduation. 3. Application Procedure Application may be obtained from the Guidance Department of Iroquois West High School or online at Submission of 3 or more letters of reference from: (see attached forms) 1. faculty member of Iroquois West 2. adult member of community (not a relative) 3. sponsor of organization/team involved with Request a copy of your transcript with attendance (see attached form) Return completed application, transcript, and letters of recommendation to Guidance Department by February 15th or submit your application and recommendations online at by midnight. Complete an interview. Interviews will be set up once all applications have been turned in. You will be contacted with information on the date and time of your interview. 4. Selection Procedure The Darin A. Krones Memorial Scholarship committee consists of at least three members from the following categories: member of the family, a community member, a former 4 H/FFA member and the high school principal. 5. Selection Criteria Demonstrate adequate scholastic ability to succeed in continued education Demonstrate a genuine concern and caring for others Indicate being a good worker and all around good citizen Dedicated workers demonstrate excellent attendance 6. Financial Considerations The stipend will be $1, and awarded at the end of the first semester. The recipient will receive an award letter at the Iroquois West High School Awards ceremony presented by a member of the Krones family or someone of their choosing. To receive this scholarship, the recipient will need to provide a copy of first semester transcript and proof of registration of classes for second semester to Debbie Krones.
