The Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM) is the largest museum in the upper Midwest and one of the top research and science museums in the nation. The museum serves more than 1.3 million people a year in the region and reaches millions more worldwide with its traveling science exhibits and films. In addition to the visitor space and education facilities SMM operates a 300 acre research park, a 500 acre nature center and preserve, and manages numerous smaller properties. The museum has approximately 650 employees (350 FTE) an annual operating budget of 38 million dollars and manages an endowment of 40 million dollars. Additional background information: SMM is the State s largest provider of teacher professional development in math, science, and engineering; has produced more large format (IMAX) films than any other science museum in the nation; is the largest museum-based science exhibit construction company in the nation - managing design, construction, rentals, and sales world-wide; maintains an active research division whose scientists worked on every continent in Since joining SMM, Dr. Jolly s leadership has overseen the reversal of a multi-year negative growth trend, increased contingency reserves forty fold, increased visitorship and membership to record levels, expanded exhibit sales and teacher training, guided a successful reaccreditation bid, launched an endowment campaign, and presented nationally award winning new programs in exhibits and education. Senior Scientist and Vice President: Education Development Center, Newton, MA 1995 Feb EDC is a nonprofit research and design organization with programs across the U.S. and in more than 40 nations. EDC directly employs over 650 scientists and researchers with an annual budget of more than 84 million dollars (2004 figures). Responsibilities included public and private fundraising, line supervision of three major EDC divisions: Educational Resources and Outreach, Center for Leadership and Learning Communities, and Adult Literacy Media Alliance, and serving as an

2 incubator for innovative projects. Also served as co-pi or PI on more than 8 million dollars in funded projects and senior advisor for an additional 16 million dollars in funded projects. In 1999, in the absence of a permanent CFO, responsibilities included directing EDC s finance portfolio. Additional activities included coordinating intra-divisional programs, cultivating working relationships with a diverse range of scientific and educational organizations, providing public appearances on behalf of EDC, service on numerous national advisory boards and advisory committees (e.g. Mathematical Sciences Education Board of the National Academy of Science, Youth Alive!, Exploratorium, Iowa Child Rainforest, AMNH-TEA, Boston Museum of Science, Nathan Cummings Foundation Museum Programs, Secretary of Education Summit on Mathematics, Putumayo Foundation, and American Youth Policy Forum). Assistant to the Chancellor and Director for Affirmative Action and Diversity Programs: University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, NE The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UN-L) is a Carnegie level-one research university. UN-L has an annual budget that exceeds 400 million dollars and has 5,000 full-time and 8,000 part-time employees at 22 locations across Nebraska and at two centers in Asia and Europe (1995 figures). Responsibilities included day-to-day supervision for issues affecting personnel systems, federal and state employment compliance, and access and equity concerns. Advised and assisted the Chancellor in matters of programming, finance, and external relations. Served on the Chancellor's cabinet and represented the Chancellor to campus, state, and national constituencies. During this time, Dr. Jolly also founded and directed the National Institute of Affirmative Action. Assistant Dean: University College, University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI University College served more than 4,000 undergraduate students in all university majors and had 80-assigned faculty. Responsibilities included direct supervision of student academic affairs with special emphasis on academic programming for first year students; supervision of special honors programming; orientation, faculty advising, and related curriculum and registration issues. Also served as Professor, Department of Psychology (Adjunct). Also served as Faculty, Quality Academy. Associate Dean: College of Arts and Sciences, Indiana State University, Terre Haute, IN The College of Arts and Sciences was comprised of 380 regular faculty and served more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate majors. Responsibilities included direct supervision of all student academic affairs including academic standards, student records, academic appeals, retention, and advisor programs. Supervised program directors for University Honors and Academic Advising Center. Advised the Dean in matters of budget, promotion, tenure, and curriculum. 3 Also served as Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, (Awarded tenure 1989) and Adjunct Associate Professor Afro-American Studies. Chairperson: Department of Psychology (three-year renewable appointment), Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, NM (Acting Chairperson ). The Psychology Department at Eastern New Mexico University included seven regular faculty, a counseling clinic and served graduate and undergraduate students. Responsibilities included day-to-day operations of the department including department budget, faculty and staff supervision, program development, promotion and tenure reviews, accreditation reviews, and departmental planning documents. As Chair of the Department of Psychology, served as Acting Dean in the Dean's absence.
