OF PHIL O SO PHY A ND R ELIG I O US ST U DI E S UN IV E R SITY OF NA I R O B I, G H A ND HI W ING 30L, UNIV ERSI TY W AY PH ONE 254(2 ) E -M A IL fo w a kah@yaho o.c o m francis.owakah@uonbi.ac.ke CAPABILITY STATEMENT Dr Francis Owakah is a Senior Lecturer in the Department o f Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Nairobi where he teaches: Introduction to Philosophy; Logic; Epistemology; Ancient Philosophy; Ethics & Moral Philosophy; African Philosophy; Social & Political Philosophy; Political Theory; African Social & Political Philosophy of Human Rights; Enforcements System in Africa and Kenya; Human rights Promotion & Protection, Transitional Justice; and, Elements of Philosophy. He is currently the Cocoordinator, Human Rights Program at the Centre for Human Rights and Peace (CHRP), University of Nairobi. He has equally lectured Ancient Philosophy, and, Theory of Justice at Consolata Institute of Philosophy. Dr Owakah designed and established a Philosophy Syllabus at the United States International University-Africa a program that offers Majors and Minors in Philosophy. He is a founder member of East African Network on Ethics & Governance (ENEG), (a regional organization committed to ethics curriculum development and governance). He is currently the facilitator of b ot h the Philosophy Curriculum Review Committee and a taught PhD program in Philosophy in the Department. Dr Owakah was the lead consultant for the establishment of the Department of Philosophy at University of Dar es salaam (UDSM) and acted as the External Quality Moderator until 206. He successfully initiated an exchange program with the Universidade Pedagogica, Mozambique for which he is currently a consultant in establishing a PhD program. Currently, Dr. Owakah is developing a Master of Arts degree programme on Ethics Integrity & Governance and a Common Course on National Cohesion, Values and Principles of Governance.
