7 Types FEBS of Fellowships FEBS Short-Term Fellowships Short-Term Fellowships are awarded for the purpose of scientific collaboration, advanced training or employing techniques not available at the candidates usual place of work. FEBS Long-Term Fellowships Long-Term Fellowships are awarded to support long-term visits for the purpose of scientific collaboration or advanced training.

9 Types of FEBS Fellowships FEBS Follow-up Research Fund The aim of this Fellowship Follow-up Research Fund is to help young scientists who have been recipients of a FEBS Long-Term Fellowship to start work upon return to their country of origin after completion of their Fellowship. FEBS Summer Fellowships Summer Fellowships are awarded to young promising students in a FEBS country wishing to gain practical scientific experience in an institution located in another country within the FEBS area.

10 FEBS Return-To-Europe Fellowships Return-To-Europe Fellowships are awarded to support scientists having left the European area for post-doctoral training elsewhere wishing to return to Europe for a second post-doctoral position. These Fellowships are granted for two years.

11 FEBS Scholarships for the CEE Collaborative Experimental Scholarships for Central & Eastern Europe are for the exclusive benefit of students engaged in research for a doctoral thesis in the currently depressed economies of Central & Eastern Europe who need to visit a well-founded laboratory in Western Europe for the purpose of carrying out experimental procedures, which would be impossible in their home country because of a lack of resources.

14 Advanced Courses FEBS offers several types of training Lecture courses Practical courses Workshops Special Meetings Combined Practical & Lecture Courses YTF are availabe for all FEBS courses and workshops

16 Advanced Lecture Courses address topical subjects of general importance and allow participating young scientists to interact with invited scientific leaders in the field during oral presentations, poster sessions, round-table discussions and tutorials.

17 Workshops address timely topics of high scientific interest, bringing together experts and interested young scientists. Oral presentations, poster sessions and round-table discussions ensure active involvement and mutual interaction of all participants.

18 Practical Courses teach advanced experimental and computational methods in the molecular life sciences, so that young scientists can apply these methods in their home laboratories. The number of students participating in these courses should not exceed 24.

19 Combined Practical & Lecture Courses should have strong hands-on training elements in order to teach participating students basic and advanced techniques in molecular life sciences, in addition to providing lectures and seminars.

20 Organizers of these events may apply for FEBS Youth Travel Fund grants to support participation of PhD students and young scientists from countries with FEBS Constituent Societies, and FEBS Trans-Continental Youth Travel Fund grants for young scientists from Asia, Americas and Africa.

21 Special Meetings address timely topics of high scientific interest and have a top-level speaker programme featuring the leading scientists in the field, oral presentations based on selected abstracts, and poster sessions. The Meeting should have at least 250 participants.

Through key programmes developed for early career scientists, from post-doc to young group leader, EMBO offers resources to plan for success.

29 EMBO- Funding, training & networking EMBO Courses & Workshops Funding and support for molecular life scientists to organize events that inform and train researchers at all career stages. Funding is available for practical courses, workshops, conference series, as well as plenary lectures.

30 EMBO- Funding, training & networking EMBO Fellowships Broaden the post-doctoral research experience through exposure to new environments. These young researchers are supported by one of the most prestigious international fellowships - a core programme since the foundation of EMBO - as they set out to becoming accomplished scientists.

31 EMBO- Funding, training & networking EMBO Young Investigators Talented young group leaders in the first years of establishing independent research laboratories. The first programme of its kind in Europe, young investigators receive financial, academic and practical support and participate in a vibrant network of more than 200 young scientists.

32 EMBO- Funding, training & networking EMBO Installation Grants Help promising scientists relocate and set up their labs in participating countries. Installation Grantees are integrated into the EMBO Young Investigators network to benefit from the offered support. EMBO Career Development Mobility and career resources to scientists at all career stages.

At Marie Curie Actions, we are well aware of that. Initial Training Networks (ITN) offer earlystage researchers the opportunity to improve their research skills, join established research teams and enhance their career prospects.

34 Intra-European Fellowships for career development (IEF) At various stages of their career, experienced researchers may welcome an opportunity to acquire new research skills or to work in other sectors. This broadening of their horizons also helps to broaden Europe s knowledge base. In turn, that makes our economy more competitive, providing more and better jobs.

35 People' Specific Programme Initial training of researchers to improve mostly young researchers' career Life-long training' to support experienced researchers in complementing or acquiring new skills and competencies, Industry-academia pathways and partnerships' to stimulate intersectoral mobility and sharing joint research partnerships.
