About Us Our Mission Since 1990, GlobaLinks Learning Abroad has sent over 25,000 North American students like yours abroad. As a trusted study abroad program provider, we foster the development of future leaders who, through an intercultural learning opportunity, gain a greater respect for the relationship which exists between North America and the rest of the world in the context of the larger global community. GlobaLinks Learning Abroad achieves this by exposing students, advisors, and faculty to internationally recognized universities and other educational organizations through the promotion of affordable academic and cultural opportunities worldwide. Programs for All Majors and Interests Semester/Year Study Abroad Degrees Abroad Research Semester Abroad in Europe Global Career-Building Internships Short-Term Summer and January Programs Learn more at: The Discovery Model Our Discovery Model is a framework we have implemented on our programs in order to provide activities abroad that enhance student discovery in each of the five areas of discovery: Academic, Social, Professional, Cultural, and Personal. Our on-site staff develops planned activities and suggest individual activities that students can undertake during their time abroad. These are typically activities that cannot be found in a guide book - they are sourced through the local knowledge of our Resident Coordinators. Learn more at When we were seeking a partner to provide global internships for our students we turned to GlobaLinks Learning Abroad. Their history and track record of providing individualized internships was exactly what we were looking for in a group internship program for various A&M majors, and their strong support, pre-departure and in-country services gave us a level of comfort with them as our partner. - Martha Marberry, Career Center and Work Abroad Programs, Texas A&M University Your Experienced Partner in Custom Designed Programs GlobaLinks Learning Abroad offers much more than open, direct enrollment into our standard suite of study abroad programs throughout the world: we design and tailor programs to your needs. Key Considerations and Initial Steps to Partnering With Us Start the Discussion It s an Easy First Step. Whether you see a program in this brochure that interests you or have other ideas, contact us to discuss the needs and goals of the program you want to run or develop. Contact Steve Luther at ext 114 or sluther@globalinksabroad.org. Education abroad offices are key players. No matter the audience, all programs will be designed in accordance with home university policies on credit transfer, financial aid, travel, and university oversight. We work with all parties to ensure the program meets your academic and policy standards. Keeping program costs affordable. Cost is one of the most important considerations with customized and specialty programs. One of the many points of value we bring to you is to help you find the most affordable program options we offer, decide what is most important to include, and what you feel can be adjusted to keep costs affordable. Our team will work with you to get the right program at the right costs for your students, faculty, and institution.

Faculty-Led Programs Customize Your Own or Choose From Our Pre-Designed Options GlobaLinks Learning Abroad is a leader in designing and programming customized, faculty-led programs abroad. Thanks to our overseas offices, we are the local, on-site experts, and we can design and implement a custom program of any length for your institution at typically less cost and significantly less hassle than you can do on your own from a distance. Programs can be any length - from spring break to a full semester - and can either be customized to your needs and specifications, or you can choose from a selection of pre-designed programs in popular majors (see popular programs list to the right). A Few of the Many Universities That Have Partnered With Us for Faculty-Led Programs: Northeastern University University of Colorado Boulder University of Delaware University of Minnesota Twin Cities University of Texas Austin California State University Long Beach Radford University St. Olaf College Short Course Programs Available in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, China, Hong Kong, and Spain GlobaLinks Learning Abroad can program faculty-led experiences in any academic discipline or focus. While programs are typically two to four weeks, they can be of any length and content can be academic in nature with a taught component abroad or more culturally focused with touring, guest speakers, and industry site visits built in, or a mixture tailored to your needs. All programs include an on-site group orientation, airport pick-up, 24/7 in-country support and assistance, in addition to travel and logistics organization. We offer the flexibility to develop programs from scratch or to work on select pieces of established programs. Examples of Custom Faculty-Led Programs We Have Developed Cultural Studies China and Hong Kong Deaf Studies and Sign Language - Australia Electrical Engineering Australia Environmental Leadership Fiji Family and Consumer Sciences New Zealand Global Environmental Issues New Zealand Psychology and Mental Health Australia Sports and Athletic Training Australia Theatre Studies and Practicum Australia MBA OR GRADUATE LEVEL PROGRAMS ALSO AVAILABLE We are proud to partner with GlobaLinks Learning Abroad for customized and specialty programs for our College. Their knowledge and expertise has helped with our goals of internationalization for our campus through curriculum integration initiatives and faculty-led short course partnerships. - Jon Stauff, Director of Global Engagement, The College of New Jersey

Longer-Term Programs Available in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and China Increasingly, universities are seeking to provide longer programs tailored to the needs of specific majors or academic departments. GlobaLinks Learning Abroad is well-positioned to deliver both custom content and full logistical services to make such programs come together. One or more faculty leaders typically accompany these programs and may teach and/or supervise the program on-site, however that is not a requirement depending on how you wish to structure the program. Examples of Longer-Term Faculty-Led Programs Include: A 3-month Cross-Disciplinary Pacific Studies Program visiting Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. Students take four courses, attend lectures, visit cultural and historical sites, and learn about the people and places in the Pacific region of the globe with faculty leaders. Environmental Science and Policy Semester Program in New Zealand for Plymouth State University. Students directly enroll at one of New Zealand s premier universities and take a wide range of courses that match their curriculum offerings, as well as courses not offered at the home campus to supplement their learning. Environmental Science Semester in Australia for St. Olaf College. Through a combination of lectures, extensive field experiences, and brief research projects, students learn about and appreciate Australia through an in-depth group learning experience. Four courses are taught by St. Olaf faculty in biology, ecology, sociology, and political science which are taken concurrently and are highly integrated to provide a strong interdisciplinary focus. Popular Faculty-Led Short Course Programs Pre-Designed Courses for Ease of Implementation With over 20 years experience, our team has taken the best of the best of faculty-led programs we have run to bring your institution easy, affordable, dynamic programs. These pre-designed programs make program development simple while still providing an itinerary that is complete with cultural activities, professional and academic content, and exploration of some amazing destinations within Australia, New Zealand, or China. Choose from the following predesigned programs: The Global Sport Experience Australia The Global Sport Experience New Zealand Economic & Cultural Discovery of China Tropical Biology and Ecosystems Australia The Environment and Outdoors - New Zealand Hospitality and Tourism Australia Traditional Chinese Medicine Global Engineering Practices in Australia International Business & Marketing - Australia Hospitality and Events Management in China MBA Global Immersion in China Traditional Chinese Medicine - China Thank you for all that you ve done for us as leaders for every one of our students, all of whom benefitted from your excellent planning and service. Our time Down Under in Australia was so marvelous and we couldn t have had such a great experience without GlobaLinks Learning Abroad as our partner. - Professor David Lipani, Lynchburg College

Other Specialty Programs Curriculum Integration and Academic Matching Available in all destinations we offer Curriculum integration is defined by NAFSA: Association of International Educators as a variety of institutional approaches designed to fully integrate study abroad options into the college experience and academic curricula for students in all majors. This is something that GlobaLinks Learning Abroad can provide key assistance with for your semester/year abroad programming. Through our Curriculum Integration Partnership service, we will research and hand select programs to match your curriculum needs in any field of study within our own wide range of program sites. Through this research, we will recommend a good fit for your students and help you publicize and enroll for the program. Our dedicated staff will provide you with course descriptions, a host university overview, and a multitude of other necessary details to enable you to engage and talk with your academic departments about study abroad. All other services of the program remain the same, from application management through to on-site housing and care. The significance of this opportunity is to help grow education abroad at your campus so that you can reach more students and serve their interests well. Examples of Recent Curriculum Integration Partnership Programs: Health Sciences, including Pre-Med, Pre- Nursing, and Dietetics Education (Primary) Engineering Biochemistry Sport and Exercise Science Communication Disorders Hospitality Management Group Internship Programs Available in Australia; New Zealand; Hong Kong; Shanghai, China; and Valencia, Spain We will always offer a variety of individualized international internship programs, however we can create custom academic internship programs tailored to your institution. A university group internship program is a combination of the same high quality services and internship program standards we already offer, matched to your specific program requirements. This allows program ownership and for special billing and financial aid use. There are multiple ways we can facilitate these programs: Opt for a program focused on a specific major or allow for enrollment across all areas. Utilize one of our existing pre-set models, but add in extra services for your students and facilitate the academic credit through your institution. Design your own program from start to finish, including specific fields of study, special academic assessment facilitation, custom dates, length, amenities and services, and location. Opt to have the program be faculty-led, allowing a faculty member to travel with your students to host lectures to enhance the internship experience. Benefits of using GlobaLinks Learning Abroad for Group Internship Programs: Academic we facilitate credit and academic assessment for all internship placements and have an on-site Academic Supervisor. Cultural Integration all programs include our on-site Bridging Cultures Orientation Program, plus information on cultural differences in foreign workplaces, which helps students adjust to a new environment quicker. Placement Customization all are individualized to the needs of your students. On-Site Support your students have access to 24/7 in-country support and assistance with our on-site resident support staff. Some Universities That Have Partnered with Us for Group Internship Programs: Florida State Texas A&M Rochester Institute of Technology University of Richmond Queens University of Charlotte University of Kentucky

On-Site Orientations for Exchange Students Available in Australia and New Zealand We offer the opportunity for non-globalinks Learning Abroad students to join our renowned on-site Bridging Cultures on-site orientation program hosted in Australia or New Zealand. We feel strongly that this is the best onsite program introduction available in these destinations and we want to share it with you. The Bridging Cultures Programs in Australia and New Zealand are multi-day culture and adventure opportunities offering students a: Place to land, feel safe, be greeted in country Opportunity to meet other study abroad students Comprehensive orientation for health and safety, local cultures, academics Fun and safe cultural experiences Chance to integrate and volunteer within the local community Our on-site Resident Directors lead the sessions, plan the activities, and ensure that participants have an amazing pre-semester experience. The opt-in Bridging Cultures Program is ideal for exchange students who are traveling independently to their campuses Contact Kathryn Olinger, Director of Admissions, for more information at ext. 107 or Site Visits Available in all destinations we offer Get an inside look at the programs offered by GlobaLinks Learning Abroad. We can organize site visits tailored to individuals, small groups of study abroad professionals, and/or faculty from your institution. Your itinerary can take you to any of our university program sites, visits to internship work sites, and/or our on-site Bridging Cultures orientation programs, so you can meet with our partners and observe our programs in action. We offer these site visit opportunities as a way to form closer partnerships to North American universities and to offer our partners a way to more effectively advise students on GlobaLinks Learning Abroad programs. We use a detailed proposal process that ensures you get to see what matters most to you and makes the most time of your overseas visit. Contact your Regional Director for more information on how to initiate a site visit with us. Adopt a GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Program as Your Own Available in most of our destinations If one of our existing programs meets your needs, your institution can simply adopt it as your own. The difference is such programs can be just for your students and can have the option to include a faculty member traveling with the group. While GlobaLinks is still very much involved in application processing, student servicing, and providing in-country support and orientation, this option allows your institution to market most any program we offer as your own, free from any GlobaLinks Learning Abroad branding, if desired. I recommend that all faculty leaders utilize a provider like GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, which has been the backbone of my study abroad programs in 2007, 2009, 2011, and again in My program would not have been so well-organized and successful if it wasn t for them. They work cooperatively with me every step of the way, are flexible and make excellent suggestions when I need guidance. For example, if a semester program we offer in a destination, such as England, is perfect for your institution then we will work with you so you can call the program ABC University in London. A number of existing summer or January short courses and internships work well in this model. - Professor Nilufer Medora, California State University Long Beach
