17 7 Ь NATIONAL SYSTEM OF HIGHER EDUCATION INFORMATION ABOUT THE Admission to higher education Admission to higher education institutions HELs is carried out competitive basis General access to higher education in Ukraine requires complete general secondary education including secondary school leaving examination External independent Assessment Certificate Admission to certain programmers includes an entrance examination Admission to programmers leading to Junior Specialist awards may be carried out on the basic general secondary education A higher education at each level requires the successful completion of a relevant programme of study vocational or academic or a research programme that leads to a relevant higher education degree Junior Bachelor s Bachelor s Master s Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Sciences A Junior Bachelor s degree is obtained after vocational training at the Initial shortcycle level of higher education it is awarded by a higher educational institution upon successful completion of a vocational study programme comprised of ECTS credits A Bachelor s degree is obtained at the First level of higher education it is awarded by a higher education institution upon successful completion of a professionally oriented bachelor s programme comprised of ECTS credits The student workload needed in order to achieve a Bachelor s degree after a Junior Bachelor s degree shall be defined by the higher educational institution A Master s degree is obtained at the Second level of higher education it is awarder by a higher educational institution upon successful of relevant academic or professionallyoriented programme A professionallyoriented Master s programme is comprised of ECTS credits an academic programme is comprised of 120 ECTS credits A Master s programme in science must include 30 percent of research scientific work Students have the right to enroll in a Master s programme if they have obtained a Bachelor s degree The national system of quality assurance in Ukraine is realized by means of licensing and accreditation procedures All HEIs must be licensed before they offer tertiary level educational programmes To be granted a license a HEI must meet the required standards set the Ministry of Education and Science To have an educational programme accredited a HEI must meet the requirements of the HE standards Students will graduate with a staterecognized degree and qualifications only after having completed an accredited programme of study The responsibility for the national system of quality assurance in Ukraine rests with the Ministry of Education and Science Acreditation Commission the State Inspectorate of HELs CERTIFICFTION OF THE SUPPLEMENT 8 Rektor of Lviv State University of Internal Affair Position of the head of the higher educational institution or another authorized person Signature of the head of the higher educational institution or another authorized person Seal of the higher educational institution Date day month year V Sereda Family name and initials of the head of the higher educational institution or another authorized person
