5 The Norway-Canada Globalink Partnership Award Opportunity for Norwegian and Canadian researchers and graduate students to connect with industry and universities in the partner country International research experience for participating students: 16- to 24-week research project at the industry partner s offices or facilities A $15,000 research grant 5

7 Design Tri-lateral research project of weeks Required participants: student home academic supervisor host academic supervisor industry partner/business/company Student conducts research with the industry partner Research with benefits to all partners: student, universities and industry partner 7

8 Funding $15,000CAD research grant awarded to projects Awarded to the Canadian researcher Minimum $10,000CAD will go to student stipend to do a research internship, $2500 to cover travel expenses SIU and Mitacs are each contributing funds Business partners contribute $7,500CAD 8

9 Eligiblility Students: full-time graduate students (national and international) Home professor: hold faculty position at the student s home institution; eligible to supervise graduate students Host professor: hold faculty position at an accredited university located in the same country as the international industry partner Host industry partner: for-profit companies with offices or facilities in Canada/Norway where students can undertake research projects 9

13 InternAbroad a pilot initiative To increase the number of students from Norway in credit-yielding internships abroad 13

14 InternAbroad: Funding to build stuctures for international internships In USA, Canada, Japan or the BRICS countries Up to NOK per project Up to 50 % of project cost may be salaries Minimum 5 students per project Innovation Norway will share network and help make connections SIU will follow up with workshops during the project period for developing and sharing best practice 14

15 Requirements In any form of business or organisation Full-time internships or combined with studies Any discipline or level (Bachelor, Master or PhD) Each internship must yield a minimum of 7.5 ECTS (or be part of a larger credit yielding course) If only internship: Minimum 2 months If combined with studies: Minimum 1month 15
