2 National Taiwan Normal University Incoming Exchange Program Applicant Eligibility Applicants should be nominated by our contracted Partner universities, and have completed at least one year of university work prior to participation in the exchange. Individual applications will not be processed. Please go to Incoming Exchange Student Online Application to fill out the form during the scheduled period below, print the form out, add applicant's signature and submit all the required documents BY POST to the Office of International Affairs at NTNU. 3 Exchange students can participate in the following programs: International Culture Program (ICP) a series of culture related courses that are exclusively taught in English. Included in the list of courses are Literature and Arts Introduction to Chinese Traditional Culture and Readings in Chinese and Western Art etc. The ICP courses are to be supplemented by credit bearing language courses in Chinese, which will provide student with a set of balanced curricula that include both culture and language. Chinese Language Courses: Non Mandarin spoken exchange students are eligible to take semester program up to 6 hours per week without charge in Mandarin Training Center. Regular Academic Programs at NTNU including undergraduate and graduate courses in all subjects (Please note that some courses with special requirements are upon lecturer s permission). Required course load Recommended Credit Load per undergraduate semester Contact hours per undergraduate course Minimum: 4-8 credits in one semester (2 to 3 courses) Maximum: 27 credits in one semester (9 to 13 courses) Average load: 16 to 20 credits in one semester (8 to 10 courses) Exchange students are required to enroll in at least ONE COURSE provided by the HOST DEPARTMENT and one course of International culture programs. For a typical on-semester course (18 teaching weeks), the number of credit is calculated as follows: One hour of lecture/tutorial per week: 1 credit. 2-3 hours laboratory / fieldwork per week: 1 credit. 2 ECTS equivalent 1 credit. Rent: USD 90~150 / month For one semester students: Study LESS than 6 months can apply VISITOR VISA then apply for extension within 15 days before the duration expired. For one year students: Study MORE than 6 months can apply RESIDENT VISA, and are required to apply Alien Resident Certificates (ARC) within 15 days after arrival. We strongly encourage exchange students to purchase 6 months adequate health insurance either from your home country or Taiwan. From the 5th month of the stay, students are required to join National Health Insurance (NHI) held by Taiwanese government. Students will have to apply on-campus housing online and we will inform student individually. Fees range from NT$20,000 to NT$26,000 per semester. Per semester dormitory fees vary by dormitory. Room Accommodation:3 ~6persons/room (twin size loft bed). Student has to pay electricity fees monthly. The bed allocator is very according to draw.

Student Life With 172 student clubs and organizations on campus readily to find friends sharing similar interests, NTNU provides a wide range of extracurricular activities for students to easily get and stay connected. Swimming facilities: Olympic-size swimming pool, spa pool, steam room, and sauna. The track and field, tennis courts, basketball courts, and multi-purpose gymnasium provide excellent spaces for exercising, aerobics, dancing, and countless other activities. Well-equipped libraries, laboratories, and computer rooms. Easily access public buses and Taipei metro stations. Close proximity to post offices, banks, restaurants, coffee shops, traditional markets, supermarkets, night markets, bookstores, and 24-hour convenience stores.

6 Mandarin Training Center Semester Program Category C : Mandarin Training Center (Semester Program). Course Description: Only counts for learning hours, not credits. Registration and class dates will be announced. Can take group classes up to 6 hours semester program per week without charge. Apart from semester program, you will need to pay but get a 20% discount. Requirements: Optional Course Feature: Under the instruction of professional Mandarin Chinese teachers. Each class of 8~15 students will meet twice per week. Class levers range from beginner to Intermediate. A placement test is required. Class Time 14:20~17:10 Two classes per week. Sixteen weeks in total
