Jan-Dec 2013 Ph.D. Candidate, York University Planned and conducted one year of fieldwork in Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela. Conducted 80 semi-structured interviews, focus groups and surveys in Spanish and Portuguese. Sept-May 2010 Research Assistant, University of Toronto Analyzed interview data for "Proyecto Latino", a major research project conducted by the Center for Urban Schooling at the University of Toronto. Wrote report for Toronto District School Board that focuses on the class barriers to engagement experienced by at risk Latino high school youth. Oct-Jan 2010 Research Assistant, Social Economy Center, University of Toronto Conducted research of unincorporated non-profit organizations in Ontario. Administered participant surveys and managed database. Sept-Nov 2009 Interviewer, United Way Toronto Conducted structured interviews in apartment buildings in low-income neighbourhoods in Toronto. Recruited participants through door-to-door canvassing. June-Nov 2009 Research Assistant, Social Economy Center, University of Toronto Planned and conducted 3 months of fieldwork in Venezuela, as part of a multi-year departmental research project funded by SSHRC. Conducted 24 semi-structured interviews, focus groups and surveys.
