1 Nutrition Curriculum Facts CNM to UNM **********IMPORTANT: To assure accuracy based on individual curriculum, student must meet with advisors at CNM and UNM*********** Nutrition IT 1010 o All CNM students are eligible to challenge IT IT 1010 is not a UNM B.S. requirement, but is a CNM A.S. requirement. UNM does not accept credit hours for the completion of IT 1010 challenge exam. Foreign Language 3-6 Credit Hours o Students may complete a Foreign Language CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exam for credit. o If student chooses to complete CLEP Exam for Foreign Language credit, it is suggested they meet with an advisor prior to exam to discuss minimum scores accepted for credit, based on institution. Reminder: Organic Chemistry Labs are not required for Nutrition Majors. CHEM 2710 Organic Chemistry I o CHEM 2710 Organic Chemistry II at CNM will satisfy UNM CHEM 301 Organic Chemistry I requirement, but the course will maintain lower level status and will not fulfill upper division degree requirements. CHEM 302 Organic Chemistry II o CHEM 302 Organic Chemistry II (taken 1 st semester of Junior year) is offered at CNM as CHEM CHEM 2810 Organic Chemistry II at CNM will satisfy UNM CHEM 302 Organic Chemistry II requirement, but the course will maintain lower level status and not fulfill upper division degree requirements. 4 Degree Transfer Agreement Fall 2013 Summer 2016 based on CNM and UNM Catalogs Central New Mexico Community College A.S. Nutrition For transfer into University of New Mexico B.S. Nutrition This Degree Transfer Agreement fulfills all A.S. Nutrition requirements at CNM and Application requirements to UNM s Nutrition and Dietetics program. This Degree Transfer Agreement goes into effect beginning Fall 2013 and will be valid for application for admission into UNM s Nutrition and Dietetics program through Summer Pay attention to prerequisite course requirements and plan courses accordingly. Prerequisites may be different at each institution. Please speak with your STEM Advisor. Prospective UNM students must have a minimum overall 3.00 GPA (including transfer and UNM credit) and have completed the following courses with a grade of B or better: Nutr 244;NUTR2110 and Chem121;CHEM1710 and Chem123L;CHEM1792 to be eligible to apply for the UNM Nutrition Program. In order to be competitive for a dietetic internship, it is recommended that undergraduate students maintain a minimum GPA of 3.4 and have work experience in an area related to nutrition/dietetics.
