3 The UNIVEN Strategic Plan for research is driven towards achieving the National and Provincial strategic imperatives: Shifting from a resource-based economy to a knowledge-based economy; Producing over 5000 doctoral graduates a year by 2030, as against the present number, 1400; Providing technology transfer services.
4 Established in 1982 Thohoyandou, Vhembe District of the Limpopo Province Before Democracy After Democracy (1994) Staff members were drawn from various backgrounds within South Africa. Only three schools ie. Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences. Staff were recruited from other African countries and over seas. New programmes were introduced eg. Environmental Sciences Increase enrolment of students 2002 Univen was transformed to a comprehensive University that offers career-focused programmes with emphasis on Science and Technology.
