7 Jostens Senior Orders Packets will be distributed tomorrow in first period. (Check with your student) Dates: September 29 & 30 during lunches Cap & Gown $29.95 plus tax (includes cap/gown/tassel) MANDATORY If you order anything other than a cap & gown you must bring a $60 deposit Orders less than $60 must be paid in full You can pay by cash, check, or credit card Orders over $60 must be paid by February 1, 2017

8 Senior T-shirts $10-Cash at school or online with Schoolpay. Orders will be taken until November 1.

9 Graduation Information Graduation will be held in the stadium, weather permitting. Each student will receive ten (10) tickets for admission. In case of inclement weather, the graduation service will be held in the auditorium and seniors will receive 4 tickets. (Students will receive graduation tickets on the morning of practice) A ticket is required for admission to the graduation ceremony.

10 Graduation Information Continued Required Dress Code for Graduates: Required Dress Code for Graduates: LADIES: Wear dresses and black low heel or black flat shoes for comfort. MEN: Wear black pants and dark shoes, white collared shirt, and tie. (No flip flops, jeans, tennis shoes, or distracting objects on cap or gown allowed!)

14 Steps to College Applications Narrow choices to 3-5 colleges College Fair, Gaston College Attend Open Houses/Take virtual tours Campus Visits College Days Forms must be completed before visit and a note from the admissions office must be returned after the visit. Recommended Resource: CFNC.org

15 Application Process Online Applications Available at CFNC and college web sites CFNC retrieves transcripts electronically. College Application Fee Waivers available to eligible students College Application Week Nov Remember: The application paints a portrait!

16 Applying A Parent s Role Get organized. Materials, folders, deadlines, checklists, timelines Brainstorm together. Activities, awards, strengths, choices, feedback, support Gather key information. SS # s, school code , Student ID #, etc. Make copies of everything.

18 Letters of Recommendation Provide recommender a resume, envelope, directions, pertinent information, deadline Present to recommender at least two weeks before due date Recommenders can be teachers, counselors, employers, community leaders, pastors, etc. Application may indicate who can be a recommender Choose wisely. Write thank-you notes and tell your plans.

20 SAT ACT - ACCUPLACER SAT/ACT scores are not provided on the official transcript. Students must request the scores be sent to the colleges/universities ACT & SAT locations vary- check the websites for location availability

21 SAT ACT - ACCUPLACER Don t wait for test scores before submitting college applications. Request on the SAT/ACT registration to send score reports to your colleges/scholarship programs. Fee Waivers available to eligible students ACCUPLACER Register at FREE. Take a picture ID, pencil and calculator with you to test.

22 Community College and Transfers Application and ACCUPLACER scores Note: Some programs require SAT or ACT for acceptance into that program. Students may attend a 2 year community college and then transfer to a 4 year college Students who take Advanced Placement and/or CCP classes at Gaston College can receive college credit.

Example - ASU Others may have a separate application for scholarships. 26 Student Athletes To participate in athletics at NCAA Division I or II institution, you must be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center. Registration info at NCAA Eligibility Center.
