1 Richmond, IN Vice President for Institutional Advancement THE INSTITUTION Earlham is comprised of Earlham College and the Earlham School of Religion, located in Richmond, Indiana, a city of about 39,000 residents. Founded in 1847 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Earlham College is an independent, four-year, coeducational, residential institution of higher learning. Approximately 1,100 undergraduate students attend Earlham College on its 800-acre, treeshaded campus. Earlham College offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in 40 disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching. The Earlham School of Religion, established in 1960 and administered by its own Dean, offers the Master of Arts degree in religion and the Master of Ministry degree. A total of 71 resident and non-resident students are enrolled in these graduate programs. Among the nation's academically strongest liberal arts colleges, Earlham College is organized around four academic divisions (Fine Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences). Additionally, seven interdisciplinary majors and 12 interdisciplinary minors are offered. LAMBERT & ASSOCIATES EARLHAM COLLEGE 1
2 Earlham's international and domestic off-campus programs are popular enhancements for the College's curriculum, attracting participation from 70% of the student body. In addition, students may engage in summer research programs. The student body, 56% of which are female, and 44% male, represent 47 states and 62 countries. Ninety-five percent of full-time faculty members hold the terminal degree in their field. Earlham's varsity athletes compete in the NCAA Division III and the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Earlham s signature expression of the Liberal Arts can be found in EPIC, Earlham s Plan for Integrative Collaboration, which supports a funded internship or student-faculty research experience for every interested student. Combining a multi-disciplinary approach to addressing world problems, EPIC provides open space for collaborative inquiry across disciplines. Central to EPIC is CoLab, which is physical space created to encourage faculty and students to collaborate across the various centers and disciplines, including the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Center for Social Justice, Center for Global Health, and Center for Global Education. Earlham s successful results in integrative and collaborative education are evident through student award-winning work and scholar opportunities. Recognitions Earlham is proud to be among the 40 colleges chosen by Loren Pope for inclusion in his book Colleges That Change Lives, first published in Earlham is ranked No. 23 in Forbes' "Best Colleges of the Midwest," and is the only Indiana liberal arts college listed. U.S. News and World Report ranks Earlham College among top national liberal arts colleges in a variety of categories.
