3 Continuous and Comprehensive evaluation refers to a system of school based assessment that covers all aspects of student s development. It emphasizes two fold objectives. Continuity in evaluation and assessment of broad based learning. Behavioural outcome.

4 CLASS VIII Academic year will have 2 terms : FIRST TERM : April to September 2016 SECOND TERM: October to March 2017

5 Format of CCE CCE is divided into 3 parts:

6 PART 1 SCHOLASTIC AREAS As per Scheme of Studies, a student is required to study the following subjects: English Assamese or Hindi Mathematics Science Social Science Foundations of IT Environmental Science General Knowledge & Moral Science / Catechism / Life Skills

7 FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS : FAs which is carried throughout the year by the teacher formally and informally. It will comprise of Class Tests, Class work, Home work, Oral questions, Quizzes, Projects, Assignments, Seminars, Group discussions, Surveys, Field trips etc. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS : SAs which is carried out at the end of each term. It will comprise of Question papers to be prepared by the School as per the CBSE syllabus.

Social Skills: Interpersonal Relationships, Effective Communication and Empathy 3. Emotional Skills: Managing Emotions and Dealing with Stress Grading on 5 point scale A, B, C, D, E

11 2 B : Work Education Preparation of stationery items & dyeing Screen printing, Recycling of paper, Running a book bank, Repair and maintenance of domestic electrical gadgets, Computer operation and maintenance, Photography etc..

12 2 C:Visual and Performing Arts Music (Vocal, Instrumental), Dance, Drama, Painting, Drawing, Craft, Sculpture, Puppetry, Folk Art forms etc.

14 Part-3A Co-Scholastic Activities 1. Literary & Creative Skills Debate, Declamation, Creative Writing,, Recitation, Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Theatre etc. 2. Scientific Skills Science Club, Maths Club, Science Quiz, Science Exhibition, Olympiads etc. 3. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) PowerPoint Presentation, Website and Cover Page Designing, Animation, Programming, E-books etc 4. Organisational & Leadership Skills (Clubs) Eco Club, Health & Wellness Club, Philately Club, Horticulture club, Disaster Management Club, and other Clubs. (Grading on a 5 Point Scale- A,B,C,D,E)

20 ADVANTAGES GRADING SYSTEM Minimize misclassification of students on the basis of marks. Eliminate unhealthy cut throat competition among high achievers. Reduce societal pressure and provide the learner with more flexibility. Lead to a better learning environment.

21 Minimum qualifying grade in all the subjects under Scholastic Domain is C2 and Co Scholastic Domain is D. All assessment with regard to the academic status of the students shall be done in marks and the assessment will be given in grades. Assessment of Co Scholastic Areas 2(A, B, C & D) and 3(A, B) will be done on 5 point Scale (shown in the table above); reported twice in a year

22 Computation of Grades in to Marks CGPA (Cumulative Grade point Average) will be provided based on all 8 subjects. An indicative equivalence of Grade Point and Percentage of marks can be computed as follows: Subject wise indicative percentage of marks = 9.5 x GP of the subject Overall indicative percentage of marks = 9.5 x CGPA
