2 Promotion Criteria To be promoted to high school students must have successfully completed the following by the end of 8 th grade: 3 courses in Language Arts 3 courses in Mathematics 3 courses in Social Studies 3 courses in Science

3 Odyssey Lab Credit Retrieval Students who fail LA, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies Forfeit elective and/or PE Self-paced program Space is VERY limited.

4 7 th Grade Registration Language Arts/Advanced LA Civics/Advanced Civics *must take a state EOC (end of course exam) *worth 30% of their overall grade Science/Advanced Science

5 7th Grade Reading Intensive Reading Double Block FAIR scores, previous FSA scores, and diagnostic scores indicate remediation Single Period Reading FAIR Scores, previous FSA scores, and diagnostic scores indicate remediation Core Reading grade level

6 7 th Grade Math Grade 7 Math grade level class Grade 7 Math Advanced (pre-algebra) Algebra I, Honors* Teacher recommendation (HS Credit) EOC is 30% of final grade and must pass EOC to earn credit.

7 7 th Grade Registration Physical Education full year or waiver on file Electives semester pairs Change this year student will take two of the three courses AG, Culinary, or Tech

8 7 th Grade Registration Electives full year Chorus Piano (Keyboarding) Band Dance Beginning Spanish Art Journalism Show Choir* Jazz Band* Journalism* Advanced Dance* * - requires application or audition

9 ESE and Gifted Registration ESE Classes are determined by the student s IEP Consultation Support Facilitation Parallel Modified EBD Gifted Classes are determined by the student s EP and teacher recommendations (mainly math level)

20 Distinguished Scholar Diploma formerly Superintendent s Diploma of Distinction 3.5 overall weighted GPA 3.5 weighted cumulative GPA in AP/IB courses 100 hours of community service 1170 SAT or 26 ACT Complete 4 AP/IB courses Pass all state EOC s with a 3 or higher or equivalent AP Test with 3 or higher 3 or higher on at least 2 AP exams or 4 or higher on 2 IB exams No Application Needed
