Demand for Type 5 Charter s Created by the State Legislature in 2003, the Recovery is guided by one question: What will it take to get every student on track to graduate from college or attain and succeed in a professional career? In pursuit of that goal, the RSD transforms underperforming public schools across Louisiana in order to ensure every student is headed down the path to a successful career or college graduation. The RSD does this by identifying top school leaders and teachers to operate the schools, giving these leaders the freedom and autonomy to educate children successfully, and empowering parents to choose the schools that are best for their children. ly, the RSD is comprised of 58 charter schools and 22 direct-operated schools across eight parishes. The RSD is currently soliciting applicants to operate schools in each of the parishes highlighted in the map below.

The demand for new Type 5 Charter s includes: All schools directly operated by the RSD; As yet unidentified Type 5 charter schools in all parishes that do not qualify for renewal or extension in the fall of 2013; and Persistently failing district-operated schools that are eligible for RSD intervention. In the following pages, you will find parish and school profiles including the following information: By Parish Total enrollment in all public schools as of 1, Total enrollment in schools with student performance-based letter grades of D or F as of 1, Initial amount of per-pupil funding for the -2013 school year plus continuation of pay raises By s currently served by school, used for state identification purposes operator of the school performance letter grades 2011- Performance Score building capacity, expressed as the maximum number of students that a facility can serve Total student enrollment as of 1, Percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch as of 1, The Recovery is also interested in entities other than charter groups to manage and operate the schools listed on the following pages. Pursuant to Bulletin 129, Section 505, the Recovery may enter into arrangements with university partners or educational management organizations to operate or manage these schools. We ask any groups interested in learning about these opportunities to contact the Recovery directly.
