Demand for Type 5 Charter s Created by the State Legislature in 2003, the Recovery is guided by one question: What will it take to get every student on track to graduate from college or attain and succeed in a professional career? In pursuit of that goal, the RSD transforms underperforming public schools across Louisiana in order to ensure every student is headed down the path to a successful career or college graduation. The RSD does this by identifying top school leaders and teachers to operate the schools, giving these leaders the freedom and autonomy to educate children successfully, and empowering parents to choose the schools that are best for their children. ly, the RSD is comprised of 58 charter schools and 22 direct-operated schools across eight parishes. The RSD is currently soliciting applicants to operate schools in each of the parishes highlighted in the map below.
The demand for new Type 5 Charter s includes: All schools directly operated by the RSD; As yet unidentified Type 5 charter schools in all parishes that do not qualify for renewal or extension in the fall of 2013; and Persistently failing district-operated schools that are eligible for RSD intervention.
