The Turkey Bowl is a flag football game that pits a team of confident 8 th graders against a wily team of veteran staff members. The game is an event the whole school looks forward to each November. The gym was packed with students, parents, and faculty who were all there for a good time. While the game is an 8 th grade rite of passage at Harris School it also offers an opportunity to raise money for a good cause. This year, with the sale of Turkey Bowl T shirts, Jean Day, and snacks sold at the game, over $300 was raised for the Veterans Home in Philadelphia. 4
As for the actual game, this year s eighth graders gave the Harris staff the biggest challenge they in Turkey Bowl history. The game was a back and forth affair, with high energy and plenty of sweat but when the dust settled Harris staff defended their title on a game ending goal line stand. When the game was over and the handshaking completed the 7 th graders in attendance took the opportunity to start the hype for next year s game. From the sounds of next year s eighth grade team they are very confident about stopping the staff s 4 game winning streak. Guess we ll see what happens next year. Stay tuned.
