Issue No 28 5 th May 2017 Soldiers from Sevenoaks Some of the teachers and other students in the school came to see the hard work we had done. It was a really great idea doing this because we now have a bigger and better knowledge of WW1 and we know more about our local history too. Thank you very much to all of the teachers who came to see our exhibition and supported us! Written by Patrick Spice (8G) Explore workshop On Wednesday 10 th May Year 10 students will undertake a workshop run by the organisation Explore. The aim of this is to explore relationships and marriage in today s society. It will give our students the opportunity to take part in dialogue that allow them to draw conclusions as to the moral components and life skills that produce enduring and healthy relationships. Watoto Children s Choir Over the past few weeks, the students of 8G and 8Y have been acting like real historians by researching the soldiers from Sevenoaks who fought in World War One. We could all choose someone from the Sevenoaks War Memorial that may or may not be related to us. It was really fun to find out about them and see if we could find any of our relatives. Some people in our classes found out that their great-great-granddad fought in WW1 and some even found out that they had relatives listed on the Sevenoaks Memorial! We all created a presentation about our soldier which we made into a mini exhibition in the classroom. On Thursday 18 th May the Watoto Children s Choir will be coming to Trinity! Please go to https://www.watoto.com to find out more about them. This amazing choir of orphans and the volunteers who care for them will be putting on a free concert at Trinity of amazing songs, dances and testimonies. During the event, there will be a gift offering and craft items to purchase from Watoto so please bring along some money to support this amazing group. TO BOOK your free place, please go to www.watotouk.eventbrite.com. Please email adunstall@trinitysevenoaks.com

402 Bus Route Parents may be aware that Arriva who operate the 402 bus service from Bromley North through to Tunbridge Wells are currently consulting on cancellation of this service. Trinity are concerned, as we are sure parents are, of the effect this will have on travel for some of our students. We have responded to the consultation but please find the link below to the survey. You may wish to also take the opportunity to respond. The closing date for responses is 19 th May. https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/lsp/6c 352a0b/ Food Bank Donations On Thursday 11 th May we will be collecting donations for a local Sevenoaks food bank. We feel that this is a way to give to those in need in our community, and as we take our example from Christ who served others, we hope to do some good. The food bank are keen for donations of tinned meat such as corned beef, meatballs, chilli and stew. Jars of sauces and tins of macaroni cheese, rice pudding and vegetables would also be greatly appreciated. However, they have already had many donations of pasta, tinned soup, tea, tuna and baked beans so please do not bring those if possible. If each student could donate one (or more!) thing, it would make a huge difference to our community, so we ask for your kind help in this. Lord of the Rings Club The Lord of the Rings club has been progressing well and has now watched the whole of The Fellowship of the Rings! We have had lots of discussions around the characters and the events that go on and what they represent. We will shortly be starting the second film in the trilogy which is The Two Towers, however this film is a 12A and I am aware that some of the students who attend our club are in Year 7. So if your child attends the club and you would prefer that your child not watch the film, please contact me to let me know. With many thanks, Alice. Termly Maths Puzzle Please remember to have a go at our Termly Puzzle Dividing Squares. It is attached at the end of the newsletter. Closing date is May 19 th.
