Editors Pratik Trivedi, B.Com III Adnan Chinwala, BBA III In order to avoid the communication gap among the various stakeholders of the institute on all academic and administrative matters and also to facilitate the achievement of the intended student learning outcomes, the Faculty Council of the college resolved to bring out a quarterly e-newsletter. The various activities organized from time to time, be it co-curricular or extracurricular will be a part of this newsletter. All important events planned will also be covered. Besides mailing online to all the concerned, this will also be kept on our website. We earnestly seek suggestions for improvement. - Director STATE LEVEL SEMINAR OCTOBER 2017: As a part of Centenary Celebrations of Osmania University, on a call given by the Vice- Chancellor, a State Level Seminar on Financial Reforms in Indian Economy was conducted on 27 October, 2017. The Chief Guest was Prof. S. Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University. The seminar was inaugurated by him and in his address he urged the students to improve their skills and to develop the right attitude to succeed in life. Sri. Y.J. Venkata Rao, Chairman, VJIAS, presided over the inaugural session and Ms. T. Rama, vice principal, hosted the session. Sri G. Sarath Gopal, General Secretary, VJ, Sri. K. Harishchandra Prasad, Vice- President, VJ, and the Director Dr. Vijaya Prasad, addressed the gathering. Ms. N. Aruna, principal, proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. D. Ravinder, Principal, Arts College, OU, Sri. G. Manohar Singh, Director, Sujatha Institutions, Ms. Aruna, Principal, VJPS are among the distinguished participants. Following the inaugural session the seminar had a plenary session, two technical sessions of Paper Presentations and one parallel session of Business Idea Competition and finally the Valedictory Session where the winners and participants were given prizes and certificates respectively. The Plenary Session was chaired by Dr. A.S. Rao, Director, VNR VJIET. The eminent guest speakers were Prof. S.V. Satyanarayana, Chairman, BOS, Dept. of Commerce, Osmania University and Sri. Arun Luharuka, Senior Vice-President of FTAPCCI. The Session was hosted by Ms. A. Swapna, Lecturer of Computer Dept. The Session began with the presentation of the seminar theme by Ms. N. Aruna, Principal. A brief introduction of the Financial Reforms was given by Dr.A.S.Rao. Sri. Arun Luharuka and Prof. S.V. Prof. K.Satyanarayana gave valuable suggestions to students on how to be prepared for the challenges in the current economy and to be skilled in various fields so that they can have more career opportunities. The Plenary session concluded with a question & answer session where students posed a volley of questions to the speakers to get their doubts clarified. Ms. G. Patrick, Department of Commerce, Osmania University. The Judge was Ms. Nalini, faculty of Commerce, Dewan Bahadur Padmarao Mudaliar College for Women, Secunderabad. In all, 23 teams of 38 students from 11 different colleges and 3 faculty, 2 from Kasturba Gandhi College and 1 from Aurora Degree & PG College presented papers. Prof. Patrick gave concluding remarks. Business Idea competition, a parallel session to Technical Session II was chaired by Dr. C. Durga Prasad, Director, VJIM and the Judge was Dr. A. Patrick, Professor, Department of Commerce, Osmania University.6 delegates from various colleges and 7 students from our college presented their Business Ideas. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. S. The session started with the opening remarks by Prof. V. Usha Kiran. The Judge for the session was Ms. Nalini. The chairperson Prof. Usha Kiran concluded by giving valuable suggestions and guidelines on how to present papers. Ms. Lydia Joseph, faculty of Commerce, presented vote of thanks. Prof. V. Shankariah Dean, in his address, advised students to concentrate on and explore the current market where they have more opportunities for employment. WORKSHOP ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP AT NSIC: All final year students accompanied by two faculty members, Ms. Radhika & Ms. Divya, and Mr. Sravan, attended a workshop on Entrepreneurship at National Small Industries Corporation. The students were given information on how to get funding for small businesses and how they can be helped by NSIC to start their own businesses. NSS STUDENTS AT RALLY FOR RIVERS : Guruji Sri Jaggi Vasudev of Isha Foundation has started a movement called Rally for Rivers to create awareness among the people of India on the condition of rivers and to save the rivers in India which are gradually drying up. The aim of the campaign is to garner support from the citizens for the cause of the rivers and to get the government to take steps to save the rivers. Volunteers from different institutions and organizations participated in the campaign to spread the word. Our NSS students participated in the program near Patny Centre on 01-09-2017. NSS Students at Rally for Rivers program near Patny Centre TEACHERS DAY Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan s birthday is celebrated as Teachers Day on September 5 th. On this occasion the VJIAS management celebrated Teachers Day in college by getting a cake cut by the faculty and honored teachers by giving them small gifts. BEST TEACHER AWARD: Mr. Shashidhar, faculty in Sanskrit, was honored with the Best Teacher Award by Indian Red Cross Society, Hyderabad Dist. Branch, on Teacher s Day Mr. Shashidhar receiving the Best Teacher Award TELANGANA BHASHA DINOTSAVAM: To foster love and respect for Telugu Bhasha among students and faculty,telangana Bhasha Dinotsavam was celebrated in college as it is done every year. Staff and students spoke on the importance of learning and respecting one s mother tongue and on the life and works of Kaloji Narayana Rao. Dr. B. Venkateswarlu, faculty in Telugu took initiative in organizing the program on 09-09-2017. Telugu Bhasha Dinosthavam Celebration CULTURAL ACTIVITIES BATHUKAMMA CELEBRATIONS: Our college respects our cultural heritage and celebrates all possible cultural events in the college. Bathukamma, the Telangana State festival, was celebrated in college with great pomp and enthusiasm. OSMANIA UNIVERSITY INTER-COLLEGE COMPETITIONS: Every year Osmania University holds Inter-Collegiate competitions in various categories. 14 of our first and second year students participated in nine events like Rangoli, Clay Idol Making, Dance, Painting, spot photography, installation, elocution, debate and singing. The winners are yet to be announced. Participants GUEST LECTURES: A lecture on Online Tax Filing was given by guest speaker Mr. Alok Ratna, a tax consultant to B.Com II & III year students on 04-10-2017. Com students on 12-10-2017. Lecture on Overview of C Programming Mrs. N. Arunas Lecture Ms. N. Aruna, principal, delivered a lecture on Hospitality & Tourism to 28 foreign delegates as a guest faculty. The lecture was organized by National Institute of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.

GOVERNING BODY MEETING AT VJIAS ON 17-10-2017: The Governing Body meeting of VJIAS was conducted on 17-10-2017under the Chairmanship of Sri. Y. J. Venkata Rao. Along with the Management members, Principal and Director, Prof. D. Ravinder, the Principal, Arts College and OU nominee attended the meeting. PhD Thesis Submission: Ms. T. Rama, English faculty and also Vice-Principal has submitted her PhD thesis titled, A study of Word Stress and Rhythm in the Speech of Students of Engineering & Management Courses in Telangana for the award of doctoral degree in English to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, Hyderabad in July, 2017. Ms. N. Aruna, Lecturer in Commerce and Principal of the College, has submitted a thesis entitled MSMEs Problems & Prospects A Comparative Study With Special Reference to Select Units of Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States for the award of doctoral degree in Department of Commerce & Management to Krishna University, Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in the month of November, 2017. NEWS IN BRIEF: Ms. Swapna and Ms.Triveni attended a Faculty Development Program on Python- a computer language, at Aurora Degree College on 16 th Sep Ms. T. Radhika, faculty Dept. of Computer Science attended a four day work shop on Sci-Lab and Python, computer languages, which are being introduced as Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) for all B.Sc courses in the CBCS curriculum, conducted by the Dept. of Computer Science, Osmania University. Mr. Shashidhar, attended a one day state level workshop on the new Sanskrit textbook for third semester students, conducted by Osmania University and a National Seminar Bharatiya Kala Vaibhavam organized by Bharateeya Samaakhyaa, a cultural organization, at Keshav Memorial College. He presented two papers on Jyothisya-Sangeetam, and on Sanskrit Sahithye Rashtrabhaktih at National Seminars. He has also attended an orientation program on Rural Immersion organized by NSS wing of OU. Tips on writing resumes were given to students by the Placement Cell. Registration of student E-Mail ids in the Placement Cell Portal was started in September, 2017. A group discussion on the topic, Are movies good or bad for society was conducted for I & II year students. The commencement of I & III semester theory exams are likely to be held from 14-12-2017.The practical exams will take place after theory exams.

The General Manager Marketing of Siva Sivani Institute of Management conducted a GK Quiz for the final year students on 22 nd November, 2017. The selected teams will play the final rounds at Siva Sivani Institute on 18 th December. A presentation on Personality Development & Business Communication was made by Ms. Neha Gupta, a freelance trainer to all final year students on 23 rd November, 2017. Prof. Rama Rao from VJIM visited the college and gave a talk on Why MBA after Graduation and on the Importance of Management Courses to the final year students. B.Sc final year students were taken to TASK Office for writing aptitude test for placements into Cognizant by the Placement Cell In-charge.
