ANNUAL QUALITY ASSURANCE REPORT (2006-2007) Part A The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year. Action Plan ( 2006 2007 ) 1. Net working of the entire campus. 2. Activities related to Autonomous. 3. Provision for student support and progressive activities. 4. Extension activities. Outcome achieved : Highlights of the quality initiated. Upgradation of Networking : The MCA Library of the College is fully computerized. Activities Related to attaining Autonomy : Different committees have been introduced for the smooth running of the College particularly Autonomous. Academic Council Meeting was conducted usually as per the norms of the UGC for the Autonomous College. Activities for student support programmes. Special coaching classes for the students who have secured very low marks in the examinations. Soft Skill Programmes have also been conducted for the students to improve communication skills. Extension Activities : Staff members have been assigned Paper Valuation work in the College and different Universities. Awareness on Health Programme was conducted. Blood Donation Camp was also conducted. Examination Valuation Centre for Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai.

Courses in which student assessment of teachers is introduced and the action taken on student feed back The students have submitted their views about teaching and same is placed before the Governing Council. Skill Development coaching have also been given to the students. 24. Unit Cost of Education For students in the Aided programmes : Rs. 14,470/- For students in the Self supporting programmes : Rs. 8,192/- 25. Computerization of administration and the process of admission and Examination results, issue of certificates All the administration procedures including Admission, students attendance Preparation, results and Statement of Marks have been fully computerized. 26. Increase in infrastructure facilities Tennis Court is proposed to create in the College Ground for the benefit of students.

27. Technology Up gradation Computer Networking, Internet Facilities 28. Computer and Internet access and training to teachers and students : Library is connected with the Internet facilities i.e. MALIB NET College Hostel provided with Internet Facility. 29. Financial Aid to Students Concession have been extended to the poor students from the tuition fees payment and the students are also benefited. 30. Activities and support from the Alumni Association The Alumni Association of D.B.Jain College is functioned every year by way of Annual Meetings and offer its support for various development activities. 31. Activities and Support from Parent Teacher Association The members of the Parents Teachers Association is actively participating in the programme conducted with the support of students. Parents exchanged their views freely with faculties. The performance of each and every ward was thoroughly analyzed. Guidance and Counseling were also offered to achieve better results. 32. Health Services : A separate Medical Care Unit is working in the College for the benefit of students and staff.

Performance in Sports activities : Volley Ball : Our students participated in Volley Ball Tournaments and bagged the following prizes : a) Donbosco Centenary State Level Tournament --- III Place b) CMC State Level Inter Collegiate Tournament --- III Place c) Kumara Rani Meena Muthaiah Inter Collegiate Tournament --- I Place d) One Day State Level Inter Collegiate Tournament --- I Place e) IIT Inter Collegiate Tournament --- II Place f) All India Inter University Tournament --- I Place Cricket : Our students are in no way inferior to other renowned Colleges. Our Cricket team took an active participation under the captaincy of P.Desappan, II B.Com in the following competition : 1) Mr.P.Desappan, was selected for the Madras University A Zone Cricket Team to represent Madras University Inter Zone Cricket Tournament. He is an all rounder who crossed 350 runs in the III division Cricket matches and took 35 wickets in the Inter Collegiate Matches. 2) Our College participated in the Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament from 3 rd to 6 th August 2005 at Loyola College. 3) Buck Memorial Inter Collegiate Invitational Cricket Tournament, organized by YMCA college of Physical Education from 11 th to 13 th August 2005. 4) Participated Sindhi Inter Collegiate Invitational Cricket Tournament, organized by Sindhi College from 10 th to 13 th January 2006.

5) Participated IIT Inter Collegiate Invitational Cricket Tournament organized by IIT Madras from 8 th to 11 th February 2006. 6) Participated Swami Vivekananda Inter Collegiate Invitational Cricket Tournament organized by Vivekananda College, Chennai from 20 th to 25 th February 2006. Boxing : D.Ramesh, I B.Com (Evening College) participated in the Junior National Championship held at Kalpakkam in November 2005. He also participated Inter State Boxing Championship held at Pondicherry from 2 nd to 7 th March 2006. 34. Incentives to outstanding Sport persons : Cash prizes were given to the Sports persons who have achieved the Medals in the meritorious events. 35. Student achievements and awards : 1) Our College got Third Place in the Donbosco Centenary State Level Tournament, organized by Sacred Heart College, Thirupattur from 29 th to 31 st July 2005. 2) Our College got Third Place in the C.M.C. State Level Inter Collegiate Volley Ball Tournament, organized by Christian Medical College, Vellore from 7 th to 10 th July 2005. 3) Our Volley Ball team reached semi finals in the Buck Memorial Inter Collegiate Volley Ball Tournament, organized by YMCA College from 11 th to 13 th August 2005.

4) We reached semi finals in Dr.C.L.Metha Inter Collegiate Volley Ball Tournament organized by our College on 16 th and 17 th August 2005. 5) Our team secured First Place in the Kumara Rani Meena Mutaiah Inter Collegiate Volley Ball Tournament organized by Loyola College from 23 rd to 25 th 2005. 6) Our team went upto quarter finals in the prestigious Bertram Memorial Volley Ball Tournament organized by Loyola College from 23 rd to 25 th 2005. 7) Our team won the First Place in the Dawn to Dusk One Day State Level Inter Collegiate Beach Volley Ball Tournament organized by Tamil Nadu State VB Association on 26 th August at J.N.Statium. 8) Our Volley Ball team took part in the Karunya Inter Collegiate State Level Volley Ball Tournament organized by Karunya Institute of Technology, Coimbatore from 14 th to 16 th September 2005. 9) Our team got Second Place in the IIT Inter Collegiate Volley Ball Tournament organized by IIT Madras from 23 rd to 25 th September 2005. 10) Our team received Second Place in the Madras University A Zone Inter Collegiate Volley Ball Tournament from 17 th to 19 th October 2005. Very first time in our College history our team defeated YMCA College in the semi finals. 11) Our Volley Ball team secured Third Place in the Madras University Inter Zone Volley Ball Tournament organized by University of Madras from 20 th to 27 th October 2005. 12) Our College Volley Ball team secured Third Place in the RIVERA 2006 National Level Inter Collegiate Invitational Volley Ball Tournament organized by Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore from 3 rd to 6 th January 2006. i) M.Manikandan, II B.Com, represented Madras University Volley Ball Team and secured First Place in the South Zone as well as All India Inter University Volley Ball Tournament held at Jabalpur.

Mageswarn, III B.Com, S.Ravikumar, I B.Com and S.Manikandan, I B.Com were selected for Athletic Team. Extra Curricular and Social Service Undertaken by our Cadets During the Year 2005 2006 : 1. Adult Education at Taiyur 25.10.2005. 2. Blood Donation (BDC) camp at Solapur and D.B.Jain College. 3. Tree Plantation at D.B.Jain College. 4. Pledge has been undertaken under the leadership of Prof.E.Viswanathan caretaker on the following events: a. Anti Dowry b. Eye Donation c. Communal Harmony

36. Activities of the Guidance and Counselling Unit & 37. Placement Services provided to students. This year our College has achieved good track record of placements. The students who have graduated are well placed which are listed are as under : B.Sc Computer Science BBA BCA BCA B.Com 12 nos. 28 nos. 11 nos. 23 nos. 36 nos. The current Third years are attending on and off campus recruitment. I hope all of them will be placed soon in Companies like Wipro, Souther Land Global Services (P) Ltd and Standard Chartered Bank. Earn while you learn is the theme of modern educational living system. Our Evening College students work in the Day time and learn in the Evening.
