Wild life week (2 nd Oct. to 9 th Oct. 2012) was celebrated throughout Bihar State by the Environment & Forest Department. It was a mega celebration with an objective to create awareness among the people towards conservation and protection of wild life. During Wild life week People of Bihar witnessed many mega events organised by Environment & Forest Department on different dates. Details of different activities can be seen as follows DETAILS 2 nd October 2012- Inauguration of wild life week by the Hon ble Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sri Sushil Kumar Modi at Jai Prakash Golamber near Gandhi Maidan Patna by flying big Gubbara. Sri Deepak Kumar singh Secretary, Environment & Forest Deptt. Sri B.A. Khan, PCCF, Bihar, Patna, Dr. D.K. Shukla, APCCf, Bihar, Sri S.S. Chaudhary, CCF-Cumorganising Secretary, and all the Officers and Staff of the Forest Deptt. along with large sections of print and electronic media people were present on the occasion On this occasion press conference was organised in which Hon ble Deputy C.M. explained the very objective of the programme and requested the media people to cover all the programmes of wildlife week and help the govt. in its environmental awareness raising programmes. Free entry for the children up to class XII in Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park and Rajdhani Vatika Patna from 2 nd Oct 2012 to 9 th Oct. 2012 announced by the Hon,ble Dy. C.M., Bihar.
Painting Competition 4 th Oct. 2012- Painting competition for school children in four categories were organised in Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park. MEDIA S VIEW - DOLPHIN DAY (05 th Oct. 2012) On the initiative taken by Honourable Chief Minister, Bihar, Sri Nitish Kumar, Dolphin was chosen to be declared as National Aquatic animal in the meeting of National River Conservation society held on 5 th oct. 2009 in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Honourable Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan singh. Since, Dolphin is the major aquatic species of Bihar State., Govt. of Bihar has declared 5 th Oct. as Dolphin Day. On this occasion a workshop on Gangetic Dolphin was organised at Ravindra Parishad. Thousand of school students, eminent scientist and people from different walks of life participated in this workshop. A Documentary film by renowned zoologist Dr. R.K.Sinha (Dolphin man) was screened during the workshop. Govt. is also planning to promote Dolphin Tourism in Bihar. It was also decided to establish Dolphin Research Centre in near future in the state. It is worth mentioning that Bihar is doing its best in Dolphin Conservation Programme and India s only dolphin sanctuary is situated in Bihar known as Vikramshila Dolphin sanctuary.

WALK FOR WILD LIFE (i) 6 th October 2012- (MORNING) Walk for Wild life started from Governor house Golamber at 7.30 Am. This programme was organised separately for Male & Female category participants to create awareness among them about the protection and conservation of the rich faunal biodiversity of the state. Altogether 10000 people including students (Boys & Girls) from various schools and colleges, senior citizens and people from different walks of life participated in this mega event. Walk for female category was organised from Raj Bhawan to Rajdhani Vatika in the stretch of 4 km. Famous Bhojpuri Cinestar Mr. Manoj Tiwary led the team while walk for Male category was for 6 km. from Raj Bhawan to Vidhan Sabha, which was led by Hon ble Deputy Chief Minister of the Bihar Sri Sushil Kumar Modi. On both the termination points, Seven point oath were taken by the thousands of participants. Chief guest in the oath ceremony organised in Rajdhani Vatika for female category participants was Mrs. Vimla Sinha, wife of the Chief Secretary, Bihar, Sri Ashok Kumar Sinha, While, Sri Udai Narayan Chadhary, Hon ble speaker, Bihar Vidhan Sabha was the Chief guest for the oath ceremony programme organised at Vidhan Sabha. This move of the Department was appreciated throughout the state & proved to be a great success.

CULTURAL PROGRAMME (II) 6 th October 2012- (EVENING) In the evening a colourful cultural programme was organised at Rajdhani Vatika Patna. Eminent group of artist participated in the programme in the evening of 6 th oct. 2012. Artist were from Patna Womens College (the members of the Eco Task Force), Savera Smaj kalyan Samiti (Eminent NGO of Patna), Bihar Sangeet Natak Academy (Major Participant), Tharu Jan - jati (Tribal Group from West Champaran), and Paridhi, an eminent NGO of Bhagalpur. These programme were witnessed by around five thousand people of the State Capital under the open sky. Programmes were mainly related to protection of forest, Environmental awareness, Dolphin Conservation and Hariyali Mission, launched by the Govt. of Bihar. Sangeet Natak Academy presented the Bihar Geet and Bihar Gaurav Gan, Which was very exciting.
MEDIA S VIEW- ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION 7 th October 2012- Essay competition for school children in Two Categories were organised in Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park. Group A - For students up to class 7 th to 9 th Group B - For students up to class 10 th to 11 th Around 1500 Students participated in the Competition based on Wildlife Protection and Conservation.
FILM FESTIVAL (02-09 OCT. 2012) RAJDHANI VATIKA CLOSING CEREMONY 9 th October 2012- Closing and Prize distribution Ceremony was organised at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, Patna. Sri Sushil Kumar Modi, Hon ble Dy. CM, Bihar was the chief guest. On this occasion, Electronic Gate at the entry point of the zoo was inaugurated by him. Thousands of children, their parents, Dipak Kumar Singh, Secretary, Dept. of Environment & Forest, Bihar, Sri B.A. Khan, PCCF, Bihar, Dr. D.K. Shukla, Chief Wildlife warden, Bihar, Sri S.S. Chaudhary, Chief Conservator of Forest, Bihar, Sri Abhay Kumar, Director, Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park along with several Forest Officers & Staff graced the occasion.
