Companions on the Journey St Andrew s Catholic Primary School 60 Victorsen Parade, Clarkson WA 6030 Phone: (08) 6206 4100 Fax: (08) 6206 4101 NEWSLETTER NO 30 2018 20 SEPTEMBER 2018 Heavenly Father, As we complete another term, we give thanks for our school community, our class, our friends, our teachers, our teaching assistants, our parents and all who support the school. Bring us back safely net term. Just as we look forward to the holidays, may we look forward tor returning here to St Andrew s School. We ask this in Jesus name. Dear Parents How quickly another term passes and how dedicated the children have been towards their studies. I would like to congratulate Mr Waddell and staff for their wonderful effort with the sports faction carnivals. In the end, we were fortunate to have good weather for both days. A new initiative for our school has been the use of the finishing and timing gates. These are like the ones used at the interschool carnival and hence it is good for our children to have some experience before they compete. I know that Mr Waddell had to pull lots of strings to get this to our school. I also liked the way in which Mr Waddell switched the days to allow the children to participate and enjoy the activities more. The children strived to do their personal best and worked collaboratively for the factions. It was a credit to all. Well done! A Term 4 Planner accompanies this newsletter. Please place them in your diaries. (The dates are correct at the time of printing this newsletter.) If any unavoidable changes occur, we will advise families through the school newsletter. The Open Night / Book Fair was another outstanding success. I wish to thank the families for attending this very important event. I would also like to acknowledge the work of the staff of the school who spent hours in preparation and co-ordination. It simply doesn't just happen but takes a lot of hard work. The classrooms displayed a lot of the wonderful work being completed by the children. Once again, the Book Fair was an attraction that provided good literature for the children to enjoy. We are so blessed to have such a dedicated and hard-working staff here at St Andrew's. Maybe you could consider every so often telling them that? NAPLAN RESULTS Parents who have children in either Years 3 or 5 will receive their child's NAPLAN results today. They are sent home in conjunction with all other Catholic schools within our region. I hope that you enjoy the read!

CHANGE OF GRADES At this time of the year many parents and children are interested in their teachers and what is happening for the following year. There has been no formal decision as to which staff member will be teaching which grade in 2019. However, all teachers in schools are requested to change grades, every few years, as this is a part of their professionalism. In schools, like our own, this means that some children may have a teacher that they have had in previous years. This is unavoidable, and most children look forward to the excitement of the new grade (so does the teacher). If any parent has any concerns, they are welcome to place this in writing to Mr Fontaine, next term. I hope that all families have a safe and wonderful holiday and we look forward to seeing you all on MONDAY 8 th October wearing your summer school uniforms. ENJOY YOUR VACATION! God Bless Mr. Sam Fontaine Principal VISION STATEMENT St Andrew s CPS offers an education that acknowledges, respects and nurtures the uniqueness of each person. Within a framework of Catholic values and teamwork, the students will be challenged and supported to recognise their gifts and develop their potential as they learn and contribute to their community SCHOOL NEWS DATES TO REMEMBER Friday 21 September LAST DAY OF TERM 3 Irene McCormack Catholic College: Year 7 2019, Instrumental & Choral Scholarships Application close. It was very exciting to have our three new Faction names Galilee-Green, Amalfi-Blue and Patras-Red chanted and cheered on, along with great sportsmanship displayed throughout both days. A big thanks to the P &F for the 3 new wonderful faction tents that looked brilliant. The Captains new faction flags were also very impressive. It was awesome to see such close races and all competitors challenging each other to the best of their ability. The timing gates assisted us in determining the placement winners (as some races were very close). Congratulations is also given to this year s Boys and Girls from Years 3-6, Students will be notified in the coming days if they have been successfully selected for the Inter-School Athletics Carnival, which will be held at Kingsway Sporting Complex Grounds on the Thursday 18 th October in Week 2 of Term 4. A massive thank you to everyone who assisted and helped-out with the running of the Athletics Carnival, I really appreciated your support over both days.
