Shepard Law Academy Harrison High School

About Shepard Law Academy Shepard Academy is a four-year leadership development program that integrates social studies and English curriculum for high school students who are interested in law and social justice. The curriculum helps students develop leadership and critical analysis skills. The Academy experience is designed to include multiple field experiences and guest speakers, which enrich the curriculum. Students develop their reading, writing, and speaking skills, while preparing for studies in law, social justice, and American policy. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 21 hours of college credit upon completion of the Academy.

JROTC Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Harrison High School

About JROTC The EVSC's Junior Reserve Training Corps (JROTC) program works to motivate young people to become better citizens by utilizing curriculum that focuses on citizenship, leadership, and the development of foundations for success. Students enrolled in the program can earn college credits through Adams State University. The program is rated as a "gold star unit" by the U.S. Army, the highest honor that can be awarded to a JROTC program.

Enrolling in JROTC Students who are interested in enrolling in the program should notify their counselor during the enrollment conference. This program is two periods, so the student will attend Harrison for ½ day every other day and will take the JROTC course and another elective (often times, that course is a PE elective).

Early College High School Ivy Tech Community College--Southwest

About Early College High School Students enrolled in the EVSC Early College High School will spend half of the day at their home high school and the other half on Ivy Tech Community College s campus during their freshmen and sophomore years. During the junior year, students will choose degree pathways offered through Ivy Tech Community College. Students also may enroll in select courses offered at the University of Evansville. During the summer, students can attend programs and courses at the University of Evansville and at Ivy Tech Community College. Students will be provided with college readiness programs, mentoring, and academic support to ensure success in the program.

Virtual Academy Based at the Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center

About Virtual Academy The EVSC Virtual Academy is designed to provide flexibility to students K-12 to earn credits for their regular school classes; credit recovery or credit advancement through the utilization of online learning and the instruction from a licensed teacher. Teachers communicate regularly with students through weekly progress reports, email and regular study sessions and progress conferences in our classroom. At the high school level, Virtual Academy offers required and elective courses in English, social studies, science and math, and numerous Advanced Placement courses and courses approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Current high school students may take supplementary courses through Virtual Academy while attending Reitz full-time.

International Baccalaureate Program Bosse High School

About IB Created for students who are motivated and desire a rigorous college preparatory education, the IB program includes academic study in six curriculum areas, including English, World Languages, Arts, Sciences, Social Studies and Math and Computer Sciences In addition to these six core curriculum areas, the IB program centers around three unique core requirements: 1. Extended Essay - independent research to develop critical thinking. 2. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) - a course that explores the nature of knowledge and the relationship between disciplines. 3. Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) - 150 hours of creativity, action and service to others is required.

Advanced Placement & Dual Credit Courses Offered at Reitz High School

ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES Rigorous, college-level courses A heavier workload and likely an AP summer assignment Typically require a teacher/department head recommendation Students are expected to take The College Board s AP course examination in May. Qualifying students may receive financial assistance toward the exam fee. Passing an AP exam earns students a minimum 3 college credit or advanced placement in a specific area of study. AP courses are noted on the student s course request sheet by an AP next to the course title.

COLLEGE CREDIT COURSES College-level courses to earn both high school and college credit (sometimes referred to as dual credit) during their regular high school day on the high school campus. These courses are taught by qualified high school instructors and a concurrent enrollment partnership agreement exists between the high school and a postsecondary institution. Reitz has concurrent credit agreements with USI and Ivy Tech. College credit courses are noted on the student s course request sheet by a CC next to the course title.

Transferring College Credits & Accessing AP Scores College credit Students must request that a transcript be sent from the college where they earned the credit (USI or Ivy Tech) to the college they are attending. AP AP tests are taken in May and the scores are released over the summer. Students will have a College Board account and an AP number will be provided to access scores.
