MAY NOT be appropriate choice for university bound students.
EOC (STARR) Exit Level Retests 12/4/17 English I 12/5/17 Algebra I/US. History 12/6/17 English II 12/7/17 Biology There are other retest opportunities in the Spring and Summer. Students will NOT be allowed to walk the stage at graduation if they do not pass all of their EOC exams.
Correspondence Courses Course must be completed and final exam requested by November 1st. If the student does not complete the course it will be recorded on the transcript as a WD and will be calculated in the grade point average as an F and negatively affect class rank. Must sign correspondence agreement letter prior to registration.
Pass/Fail Classes Can earn up to 2.0 credits pass/fail. Must exceed 22 credits (Foundation only) or 26 credits (Foundation + Endorsement) to be eligible. Benefits students who have a 6.0 GPA or higher. Spring semester Pass/Fail applications will be available in January.

Top 10% Admissions Automatic Admission to Texas Public Institutions; UT-Top 7%. Fall 2019 going to top 6% Must submit completed application prior to deadline set by the university. Apply no later than 2 years after graduating from high school. Graduate under FHSP+E and Distinguished Level of Achievement. Provide additional documents required by the university. Colleges within the universities may limit the number eligible for admission due to enrollment caps.

Texas Success Initiative TSI =Statewide program to assess college readiness TSI: A program designed to help your institution determine if you are ready for college-level course-work in the general areas of reading, writing and mathematics. Helps determine what type of course or intervention will best meet your needs to help you become better prepared for college level course work if you are not ready. TSI Exempt if: SAT - 1070+ (500+ M & 500+ CR) prior to March 2016, or SAT - 530+ M & 480+ EBRW after March 2016, or ACT - 23+ (19+ on English & 19+ Math) If not TSI exempt..a placement test will be required. Before Starting the Application Process Take necessary entrance exams SAT/ACT. Develop a résumé - don t be modest. Compose Essays - have them edited by teacher, parent, other. If needed, ask for letters of recommendation. MUST give 3 weeks notification see Mrs. Frable in the counselors office for more information.

Letters of Recommendation Read applications carefully to see exactly what each college wants. Not all colleges want letters of recommendation; or they may require them to be from a specific content area teacher (English, Math, etc.) Request letter from teacher and/or counselor at least 3 weeks in advance to give them time to write the recommendation. Letters that are mailed are sent directly to each college/university by Mrs. Frable. If you have been affected by Hurricane Harvey please contact the college/university that you are applying with to speak with them regarding any assistance that they may be able to provide.

College Visits 2 days during senior year for visits one each semester.
