1. Introduction The 5 th ASEAN Future Leaders Summit (AFLES 2017) is a fourteen-day exciting program that invites student leaders from universities in the ASEAN region as well as other universities. This is the fourth endeavour in bringing partner universities under one program, aiming to enrich their students with leadership capabilities. This program intends to create a networking platform for participants to share ideas and knowledge on critical issues of higher education, leadership and student participation to aid in policy making and to create a sustainable tomorrow for the young generation. 1.1Vision To foster mutual relationship and create a sustainable network of thoughtful students with leadership skills to lead in education and society 1.2 Mission To nurture, train and educate the leaders of tomorrow in higher learning institutions towards better interdependence, policy making and a sustainable future 1.3 Objectives To promote Malaysia as a higher education hub for ASEAN students To create a network of students with high potential for leadership. To impart leadership transformations and prepare students for social leadership. To foster cross cultural learning and activities among students. To provide a platform for student leaders to share useful ideas. To showcase talents and networking opportunities of community leaders. To develop and nurture friendship and strong ties among leading universities in the ASEAN region. 1.4 Outcomes: Malaysia as a destination for higher education among ASEAN community Establishment of ASEAN Young Leaders Transformation Group as a permanent committee for future projects. Engage in long term student leadership programs for ASEAN university networking. 2. Description 2.1. Duration 5 th ASEAN Future Leaders Summit (AFLES 2017) is a program spanning fourteen days of student leadership transformation. It invites student leaders from leading universities in ASEAN from the 31 st of July (Monday) to the 14 th of August (Monday), 2017. 2.2. Participant description: Active students with leadership and entrepreneurial skills will be chosen through a fair and merit-based selection process. This program intends to bring together 100 student leaders of the universities across the ASEAN countries, including10 delegates from the 5 th AFLES 2017 as ambassadors, 25 students from Universiti Sains Malaysia, 20 students from Prince of Songkla University, 20 students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Shah Alam and 5 students from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for a grand total of 170 students. Apart from the committee selection process, the organizers of each participating university of ASEAN bear the responsibility of selection of these students for participation in AFLES 2017. 2.3. Organizing Committee: This event is organized as a collaboration of four different universities along with. From USM side, the organization and management of the event will be managed by Postgraduate Student Association (PSA) USM. The members of the organizing committee are selected on basis of experience and dedication from PSA-USM. AFLES Tentative Schedule 4.1 Event Schedule: AFLES 2017 will be fourteen-day long program with participants spending four days of workshop and lectures at, two days at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), three days at Universiti Sains Malaysia (part two), half day in Universiti Utara Malaysia (part three) and four days at Prince of Songkla University (part four), Hat Yai, Thailand. Conclusion The project is a stepping stone in creating a better opportunity in terms of leadership, entrepreneurship and networking platform for students of ASEAN region. Also creates a strong leadership community of young leaders connecting USM, PSU, UUM and UiTM with rest of ASEAN.
