January STUDENTS OF THE MONTH: We are proud to announce The Students of the Month have been selected for January 2018. They are: Freshman Audrey Lynch Sophomore Emma Schieda Junior Amanda Fisher Senior Darsh C. Patel The above students have met the following Criteria: 1. Must meet high academic standards in class. 2. Exhibit positive character and influence on class/school, dignity, respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, caring, and citizenship. 3. No unexcused lates of any kind for the month. No discipline referrals in the last month. Congratulations to all of you! The Monroe Falcons bowling team had an outstanding showing in the NJ Special Olympics Area 5 competition this past Sunday, January 28 th. Rebecca Reiser and Caitlin Belko each took home the Gold, while Sarah Butler and Justin Marcelo placed with silver medals. The four bowlers will be representing Monroe as they continue on to the Special Olympics Central NJ Sectional Championships on February 24 th. Jaime Santiago and RJ Edwards each won bronze in the top division while Shriya Dahiya, Megan Fannon, Matthew Fannon, Thomas Kosko and John Herring all medaled. BAND Congratulations to senior Band member Monique Legaspi for being selected to the New Jersey All State Band for the third consecutive year. ECONOMICS & FINANCE TEAM The MTHS Economics & Finance Team earned a 2nd place showing at the Middlesex County Consumer Bowl. Sahil Parikh (captain), Waheed Zafar, Nishant Nagalia, and Rhea Bandaru gave an impressive showing by Monroe Township High School in their 1st appearance at the event sponsored by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. The event was held at New Brunswick High School on Tuesday, January 30th. This event is held annually at the county, regional, and state level as a community outreach program to educate students to be responsible and knowledgeable consumers. ART Congratulations to two Junior AP Studio Art students on their selection for participation in the Art Administrators of New Jersey 30th Annual High School Art exhibit. Both Grace Morris and Jessica Skuraton were recognized at a ceremony on January 28th for their artistic achievements as emerging artists at the James Howe Gallery on the campus of Kean University. Model United Nations MTHS s Model United Nations ("MUN") Delegation participated in the 47th annual MUN Conference, held at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA. MUN is a three-day experiential learning conference designed to introduce students to the operation and structure of the United Nations while providing them with an opportunity to actively learn about world cultures and debate issues of international importance. Our students' participation this year (as in years past) was outstanding, and as such, the MTHS Delegation was awarded Outstanding Delegation! See photo below. This after having missed the first day of the conference due to the weather! The following students earned individual accolades: Anshul Rana- Elected Chair of Historical Security Council B for 2019 Shivam Patel- Elected Chair of Political and Security B for 2019 Pranay Narang- Elected Vice Chair of General Assembly A 2019 Vinisha Patel- Awarded Outstanding Country Research Paper for Social Humanitarian and Culture A Pranesh Manisankar- Awarded Outstanding Country Research Paper for Pan American Summit Pranav Mallampalli- Chosen for CONA Rayan Yousafzai- Chosen for CONA Darsh C. Patel- Voted Premier Country and also chosen for CONA Pranav Mallampalli- Served as program officer at the conference (Chair of Legal A) There are over 2000 student participants at the conference. Only about 30 get elected as Chairs and 20 for the Conference on National Affairs (CONA), which will be held in North Carolina this summer. Please help me in congratulating Joe Romano, the MUN adviser, and all of his students on a job very well done!

FBLA Congratulations to the following students for placing 1st in their JA Titan divisions today at Munich RE and advancing to the JA TITANS FINALS on February 5, 2018. Finals competition will be held at Ethicon (a division of Johnson & Johnson) in Somerville, NJ. Congratulations to ALL of our Monroe competitors who attended and competed. It was a great day of competition! TEAM NAME: Back to Max TEAM NAME: The Olympians Abhijeet Regatte (12) Nithin Rajesh (11) Akhilesh Reddy (12) Naveen Gedupoori (11) Congratulations to "Back to Max" Akhilesh Reddy & Abhijeet Regatte for placing 4th in the FINAL ROUND of the JA Titans Junior Achievement competition at Ethicon in Somerville, NJ and for advancing to the JA TITANS NATIONAL Competition FINALS on May 9, 2018. Congratulations to "The Olympians" Naveen Gedupoori & Nithin Rajesh who also and competed and placed 8th overall in the STATE -- It was another great day of competition!

Monroe Twp. High School Athletic Program Ranked Top 20 in the State The study rated school district athletics as a whole, considering parent and student opinions, number of interscholastic sports offered, percentages of girls and boys participating in sports and the average athletic expense per student, among other factors. MTHS was ranked #1 in Middlesex County, 18 th in the state, and #257 in the USA among public schools. Bowling Congratulations to the Boys Bowling for winning the County Championship by beating Edison 2-0. Congratulations to our Girls Bowling Team Group IV Central Jersey Champions! Victoria Stasicky finished 2 nd at GMC s and Lou Folgore placed 3 rd at GMC s. CHEER Congratulations to the Competition Cheer team! They won the Grand Championship at the Meadowland Extravaganza. Way to go team!

WRESTLING Congratulations to the wrestling Team for placing 3 rd at the GMC s! Andrew Lombard wins the GMC Championship at 138 pounds. Joseph Fiordaliso & Nicholas Weikel placed 2 nd. Kaylon Bradley & Justin Hopman placed 3 rd. Taekwondo Congratulations to our very own Jiya Narwal, who is a freshman at MTHS. Jiya qualified and competed against the top athletes from around the world in the US Open Taekwondo competition in Las Vegas in late January. We are very proud of all of our students and their accomplishments!
